HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 3 Friday 18 February
FROM MARK
Hi Everyone,
A massive THANK YOU for sticking to the Covid guidelines for our school. There are a lot of them. A number of families have gone above and beyond to help and we are very grateful. It is just so important to keep our place clear, which will likely get more challenging the closer it gets to us. Thank you for helping in every way to keep our place safe, happy and open!
Have a lovely weekend
Mark

SCHOOL CALENDAR
Covid conversation continued
Anyone, adult or child, should not be onsite if they are not well.
Long story short 1: we heard of a child telling others in the upper primary that their older sibling had contracted the virus. Not true!
Long story short 2: we have heard of high school siblings who have contracted the virus. This is correct, and families concerned are following isolation requirements.
Should a family member or a student within our school test positive for Covid-19, you will be guided by WA Health as to testing and isolation protocols. They will inform you to notify the school immediately. Please be advised that this is kept in strict confidence and from there, the school will enact our 6 Step Covid-19 Response Plan.
SCHOOL FEES
If you have not received your statement please contact the office.
Council and P&F Meetings
That these were online reflects our need to reframe just about everything we are doing at school this term. We went well - everyone did their best. Thank you so much to everyone involved - we are all doing what we can to stay in touch! Bec Watson has included plenty of news from the P&F in this newsletter and an update from the School Advisory Council is below.
School Advisory Council Update
Most of you will be aware that while the building project (Stage 11) was taking place last year, a great deal of work was being undertaken to develop an application for a Stage 12 Capital Development Plan to build in 2023. Unfortunately we have not succeeded at this time: ‘I am sorry to inform you that the Catholic Education Commission has decided that the project for your school will be deferred for a minimum of 12 months, and therefore will not be included in the 2022 round of panel visits.'
This means that we will continue to advocate for support from the Catholic Education Commission in the future for this stage, which involves building an early learning precinct so that we have all our junior classes together. It is a big project and a very important one. More to come.
UNIFORM POLICY
Aston, Sophie, Christian and Francesca represent the vast majority of our students who wear correct uniform. They look great!
In the policy you will see that expectations are made really clear. Uniform means just that - uniform, not fashion statements with e.g. haircut styles which are simply not appropriate. Some 98% of children have appropriate haircuts and wear the correct uniform. We’d like to see it at 100% in the next fortnight please. To comply is to respect those who already are.
Formal notification of uniform issues can be made by the class teacher - but I think that 100% of parents and guardians would want their child’s teacher to focus on the teaching and learning and well being of their children, and not on haircuts or the wrong shoes etc etc. Please support the policy! Thankyou.
Parking
Lots of families are also using the drive through - thank you for doing so. It requires a bit of patience at peak times, but works really well.
We have loads of parking available at school, just not within 20 metres of each classrooms! Please park along Angelico Street, Williamstown Road, in the car park in front of the hall, and in the car park up the hill past the gym.
Please do not park on the grass, in the staff car park or on footpaths. Also, this morning a parent sent us a photo of a black Kia, numbers 450 on the number plate, parked right on the corner of Alver and Williamstown, creating a hazard for the many families who are walking to school. We appreciate parents letting us know of such issues so that we can share, in the hope that awareness and mindfulness will cause the issues to disappear.

CANTEEN ORDERS UPDATE
Please note that everything, including ice cups etc will need to be ordered online. This is being done to limit the number of children from different grades in the canteen area. Thank you!
PASTORAL AND STUDENT WELL-BEING NEWS
Pastoral programs in years 2, 4 and 6 are being prepared to begin soon. A reminder that we have a wide range of parent resources available in the library from parenting and resilience to external community programs and support. Please contact me if you need any information at any time.
Kindest regards
Holly Butson
LIBRARY NEWS
t’s been wonderful to welcome all classes back to the library for borrowing. There is a whole school reading challenge to be completed by the end of term 2 which the students are enthusiastically preparing for. Students who remember their library bags each week will go into a raffle at the end of term. There has been much excitement as year groups enjoy the library at lunchtimes and it’s just so fantastic to see everyone back in the library reading and borrowing- I think the air con has been an extra sweetener! Have a great weekend.

We are excited to share that Loreto Nedlands this week invited our school to join in on the first of four 'Best Programs 4 Kids' sessions.
The BRAVE Parenting session is being held online this coming Tuesday 22nd February 6pm to 730pm. Cost $10 (plus $0.50 admin fee)
BRAVE Parenting - the toughest job in the world needs a healthy dose of parental resilience. We had our first online P&F meeting on Tuesday via Microsoft teams. From a technical perspective, it went very smoothly & it was great to work together, thinking creatively & all sharing ideas of how we could possibly adapt rather than cancel a couple things on the P&F calendar. We'd like to remind everyone that they are welcome to join in on these meetings (committee member or not) - we'd love to see/hear from you. To register for the meeting - please email Michèle in admin by lunchtime the Monday before the meeting and an online link will be sent to you on the day of the meeting so you can join us. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 15th March @ 6pm
It's been wonderful to hear that Leanna has had a few more people volunteer for Canteen.
We still need Parent Reps, please jump on board by sending an email to admin & your child's teacher. Don't be shy it's a wonderful way to help out. Thank you Sue Griffin for sharing this infographic with us - it sums up the role of a parent Rep so beautifully.
Lots of people have signed up to the Class Rep role - thank you. We look forward to people signing up for Pre-Primary Catherine, 2 Dominic, 3 Catherine, 4 Dominic, 5 Catherine, 5 Dominic.
A big shout out to Sam Xanthis (yr 6) for thinking of us all and sharing the link to Healthy WA's testing and isolation guide in the event any of us need it in the coming weeks. We've added your link to our resource list from last week - hopefully these help assist with managing the frequently changing covid pandemic environment.
