BARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS...
______________________________________________
To complete these renovations, the Athletic Director’s Office will temporarily relocate to an existing office near the senior locker area. We anticipate that this move will happen during Presidents’ Day weekend. Additionally, the current Weight Room will be relocated to a portion of the Main Gym. This move is scheduled for the second half of February. These moves and the subsequent renovations should have a limited impact on day-to-day functions at BHS. However, the Weight Room may be closed for a few days while being relocated.
PROGESS MONITORING = SUCCESS
Staying on a good path for the second semester can be achieved by regularly monitoring grades, staying up to date on missing assignments, and having good attendance. By keeping a close eye on grades, parents can ensure that their child is on track and identify any areas where they may need additional support. Checking for missing assignments is important because it helps make sure all work is completed and nothing falls through the cracks. Good attendance is also key as it directly affects academic performance. Encouraging your child to attend all classes and be on time can help them make the most of their education.
There is also a lot of support available for students, including academic resources, the wellness office, and teacher office hours(M,T & TH from 7:50AM to 8:25AM). Parents can encourage their child to take advantage of these resources to help them succeed. The academic resources can provide additional support for subject matter, the wellness office can offer support for mental and emotional well-being, and teacher office hours offer individualized help. Encouraging your child to take advantage of these resources can help them stay on track and reach their full potential.
AP EXAMS
Current AP students taking the AP exams in May, are eligible to be exempt from their S2 final exams if they earn a score of C or better in their AP class.
5ESSENTIALS SURVEY - 02.24.2023
The 5Essentials Survey identifies five indicators that lead to improved outcomes for all students, including improved attendance and larger test score gains.
The five indicators that positively affect school success are:
- Effective Leaders
- Collaborative Teachers
- Involved Families
- Supportive Environments
- Ambitious Instruction
Research derived from the Five Essentials for School Success has proven that schools strong on at least three of the 5Essentials are 10 times more likely to improve student outcomes. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by Chicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. Data and indicators are a result from an anonymous administration of the survey instrument.
BHS will administer the 5Essentials survey on Friday, February 24th. We will be running a special schedule that day to facilitate the administration. If you would like your high school student to NOT participate in the survey, please print out the attached opt out form and return to the BHS main office by noon on February 22nd.

See Something, Say Something
Barrington 220 is now partnering with an Illinois school safety helpline aimed at providing students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows students to confidentially share school safety issues via a mobile app, text, email, or phone call. You will notice that the "See Something, Say Something" button on our district and school website now links directly to the Safe2Help contact page. We are asking that all students, parents, staff, and community members now use this platform to report safety concerns. In the case of an emergency, call 911.
