Principal's Newsletter

From the Desk of Ms. Clark

March 4, 2021

Dear Parents,

This week we celebrate the Feast of our Patroness Saint- Saint Katharine Drexel. As we celebrate, we are reminded of Saint Katharine Drexel's words. “Peacefully do at each moment what at that moment ought to be done. If we do what each moment requires, we will eventually complete God’s plan, whatever it is. We can trust God to take care of the master plan when we take care of the details.”

Yesterday, Monsignor joined us for community prayer, and we prayed to Saint Katharine to intercede for us. Each class wrote their own special prayer for our SKD wall! As we honored our patroness, we were also excited to celebrate Grandparents / Special Person Day! It was amazing seeing our SKD grandparents and special people “Zoom” in from all over the world! We had a special mass today in honor of our Saint Katharine Drexel!

We are honored that our school is named after such a wonderful Saint. As we continue to keep our Lenten promises during this holy season, let us look to Saint Katharine as our model as we are called to be saints!

Saint Katharine Drexel, pray for us!

God's blessings,

Ms. Clark

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

As you probably know, the positivity and incidence rates continue to decrease in the county. That being said, both rates are still in the substantial range, and we must continue to be ever-vigilant in our mitigation efforts and procedures.

We continue to pray for those who have died from COVID-19 and pray for an end to this global pandemic. We also pray for increased availability of vaccines and a return to some sense of "normalcy." Within the next few weeks, our teachers will be receiving the vaccine. After I have appointment times for the vaccine for our faculty, SKD will possibly need to schedule one or two days of asynchronous instruction. I know that this may be a hardship for our families – but I want to be proactive and notify our parents now that this may be happening within the next two weeks. I am confident that very shortly, ALL employees of SKD will be fully vaccinated. Your patience and understanding will make that a reality – sooner than later. On behalf of our faculty, staff, and myself, we are forever grateful!

Travel Restrictions

Even though the state has changed the restrictions for traveling, we are keeping to our Health and Safety Plan and requiring students to go virtual for ten days after traveling. Please contact Ms. Clark if you are planning to travel in order to determine your child's safe return to in-person instruction.

We remain incredibly grateful for the gift of our teachers and staff. Because of their great sacrifices and love for your children, we have been able to maintain in-person instruction. We are also grateful to our parents for respecting the important role they play in ensuring the health and safety of our students.

Please see below for the “Revised” Symptom Monitor Checklist which is to be completed each day. By sending your child to school, you are confirming that you have completed this health screening.

Health and Safety Reminders

As cases are increasing each day within our county, I urge you to continue to take necessary precautions to limit coronavirus spread in our community.

  2. Properly wear face masks indoors and outdoors when away from home
