From Mrs. Miller:
Happy New Year to you all!
On January 3rd , we started the New Year by celebrating with grade level assemblies. During each assembly, I shared with students a video by Kid President urging each of us to be bold, kind, and awesome! The students were given an opportunity to reflect on a goal they have for 2017. We discussed the importance of setting goals and working hard to reach our goals. Some students chose academic goals while others were related to a sport or hobby. We also discussed the importance of reading. I shared in each assembly the participation percentage for Book It. Our goal is to increase participation during January just as we did in December! With the recent snow days, I’m sure we will meet our goal. The students and I discussed different types of reading – reading from a book, reading on a device, completing Achieve 3000 articles, etc. The goal of the Book It program is to increase the time spent reading outside of school. I cannot wait to calculate our January participation and share it with you in February.
During the first two weeks in February, Mrs. Poole, our ESL teacher will be conducting ACCESS testing with all ESL identified students. During this time, she is in need of parent volunteers to assist with proctoring. The more parent volunteers we have to assist with proctoring, the fewer teacher assistants we will have to utilize. By utilizing parent volunteers, the TAs can remain in their classrooms supporting student learning. Please contact Mrs. Poole at cpoole2@wcpss.net if you have any questions. Your help will be greatly appreciated! If you would like to volunteer, please go to the Sign Up Genius link here:

I encourage you to sign up for the Remind 101 texts. This is a different account than the one Mrs. Parrish used to communicate with families. I also encourage you to follow me on Twitter as I share the amazing teaching and learning occurring at Middle Creek. My twitter handle is @CFletcherMiller. We aired our first Creek TV episode on January 6th thanks to Coach Robinson. We will air an episode most Fridays and will eventually link them on our school website. The episodes will include our SWIM winners for the week, events occurring at the Creek, and interview segments with students.
Saturday, January 21 is an inclement weather make up day. The school day will begin at 8:30 with students arriving at 8:00. Dismissal is at 12:00 p.m. Please note this time is different than our early release day time of 12:30. Students are encouraged to come to school supporting their favorite collegiate or professional team.

Greetings Middle Creek Elementary School Parents!
We’re excited to be hosting the Boosterthon Fun Run to help us achieve our fundraising goals for the year. The Boosterthon Fun Run is a fun, nine-day character, fitness and leadership program that combines world-class and engaging character content with a fundraising event for our school. This year, we are raising funds to update the front field, as well as, fund all the wonderful PTA sponsored events at MCES. Thank you ahead of time for your support!
ARE YOU ASSOCIATED WITH A LOCAL BUSINESS? SPONSOR OUR T-SHIRTS!
Community partners, we need your help! Each student will be provided with a FREE custom Middle Creek Elementary t-shirt to wear the day of the Fun Run event. This is at no cost to the student. Last year we were able to partner with community businesses to off-set the cost of the shirts. We are hoping to partner with even more community businesses this year, and we need your help in getting the word out. If you know of or are part of a business that would like to sponsor our t-shirts, please see the attached letter and information. This information will also be available on our website, http://middlecreekpta.weebly.com We need a commitment from all sponsors by March 1 in order to have the business logos printed on the shirts.
I’d like to give one more shout out to last year’s sponsors! Thank you again to Riccobene Family Dentistry, Ten Ten Auto Service, and Gonyeau Family Chiropractic for providing spirit wear for every student at no cost to our families.
Thank you in advance for your support of the Boosterthon Fun Run program that will be starting on Tuesday, April 11! If you have any questions, please contact me at salisc@msn.com
Thank you,

The Silent Partner Program
Mrs. Fillard, the school counselor, and Mrs. Lesniak, the school social worker, are asking for volunteers for a new program.
The Silent Partner Program has been successful at many other schools, and we would like to start this program at MCES. The purpose of the program is to help any MCES families who are experiencing a school-related need. This program may be used to secured funds for field trip money or other school items, or to gather donations of clothing, shoes, etc. By becoming a silent partner, you may help as much or as little as you wish. Mrs. Fillard will send an email to all "silent partners" when there is a need, and you can choose if you would like to donate at that time. If you would like to be part of the Silent Partner program, please email Mrs. Fillard with your name and the best email address for contact. Thank you!
Donations needed
- Mrs. Fillard has pressing needs for students. If you can help, please send individual snacks, plastic folders and marble composition notebooks to her office. Thank you!
- The Giving Garden is in need of some chicken wire, as well as Black Cow soil or cow manure or compost. If you have any you can spare, please drop off to the garden. Thank you!
