Titan Kindness Fridays- Each Friday we focus on a kindness message and a kindness challenge. Encourage your child to participate and ask your child what the challenge was for the week.

Character Day- We will join millions around the globe for the fourth annual Character Day on September 13th! We will focus on the importance of developing and improving character (qualities like empathy, curiosity, grit, humility, bravery, social responsibility, and many more). Check out www.letitripple.org/character-day
8th grade Field Trip- Team 8A will travel to St. Charles Community College on September 25th and Team 8B will travel on September 26th. New Student Group- we welcomed over 40 new students to South this year! We are holding 3 more meetings this month for the new students that signed up for the group! They will learn more about the IPAD, go on a scavenger hunt, and of course meet new friends!

TECH TIPS
Hello Titan Families and Welcome to a new school year!
We are very excited about beginning our second year of 1:1 iPads at Troy South Middle School and we’re working each day to provide opportunities for students to leverage that technology to learn and grow.
Here are just a few "getting started" reminders:
- All students must have a signed Responsible Use Policy Form on file in order to use technology at school.
- Student iPads should be brought to school each day fully charged.
We recommend that you develop a "care plan" with your student that includes the following key areas:
- Use of the iPad in common spaces
- A safe storage location for overnight charging
- Digital citizenship expectations for use at home
- Collection of student usernames and passwords
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. You may also refer to the 2017/18 Student/Parent Personalized Learning Handbook for additional information.

MEAL CHARGING PROCEDURES
Lincoln Co. R-III School District and Chartwells School Dining Services serve students with quality, well-balanced meals at affordable prices. All students have a meal account that is used to keep track of student deposits and purchases. Parents can view the balances of their child’s meal account via the SISK12 Parent Portal.
Breakfast tray $1.80 Lunch tray $3.00
Students will not be allowed to charge meals beginning the first day of school if they do not have positive funds in their accounts. They will be offered an alternative meal for both breakfast and lunch.
Middle school students will be allowed to charge a maximum of ten ($10.00) dollars.
These meals charged will include only the menu items of the reimbursable meal.
Once the maximum of $10 has been met, the student may receive a designated menu alternate for both breakfast and lunch.
After this maximum has been met, no additional charges will be accepted.
Your children may qualify for free meals or reduced price meals. Parents need to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application for all students in the household. The completed application is returned to Donetta Schieffer, 951 West College St., Troy, MO 63379 or your school office.
