Principal's Message
March 13, 2020
Good evening,
As students head home for the weekend, I hope all of our Willink community enjoys time with family while we continue to monitor the ongoing health concerns. Students showed remarkable maturity this week as they came to school ready to learn while balancing their own interpretation of the pandemic and its impact on Webster. This week also provided opportunities to have many authentic conversations about health, school, government, and the interconnectedness and interdependence of our global community.
There are no new updates to share at this time regarding school closings or additional activity cancellations but we will continue to communicate as a district as the situation develops. Students have been asked to bring home chromebooks and chargers each night so that we are prepared for school closings while at the same time moving forward expecting to return each day.
We will plan to celebrate World Language Week next week beginning Monday. Please see the flyer below for an explanation of each day’s theme.
I’m also including Mr. Gumina’s steps outlined yesterday as well as a link the the district Coronavirus Webpage where we will be posting all related announcements and materials as we go forward.
Again, I’m thankful for the maturity and curiosity towards learning displayed by our students this week. I hope you all stay healthy and happy this weekend.
From Superintendent Gumina (3/12/2020)
Our district is taking several steps to limit exposure, mitigate health risks, and be as cautious as
possible while still supporting the healthy operation of school.
To that end:
1. Webster CSD, like other Monroe County districts, has postponed or cancelled overnight
student travel outside of the greater Rochester area through April 12 due to concerns
about potential out-of-town risk and/or quarantine possibilities.
2. We have also decided to postpone or cancel a variety of upcoming events through the
April break. All Webster CSD concerts and PTSA events have been suspended through
April 12.
3. Trips and events scheduled after April 12 will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
4. Specific follow-up for certain events and trips will be sent by individual coaches,
advisors, teachers, or administrators.
Sincerely,
Brian Powers
