Spring is Officially Here
I hope that you had wonderful spring break! Now that 4th quarter is here, we will be reviewing and winding down our school year. We do have some new skills to work on, but be on the lookout for review packets and notices of upcoming dates. Spring can be a bad time for allergies, so we'd love to have extra boxes of tissues for those runny noses. Let's have an exciting ending to our school year!
Read Across America Week
We had a blast during Read Across America week! One of our favorite things was a surprise visit from former Park View principal, Dr. Cottone! Click here for more pictures from our activities that week.
Third Grade Gateway Project
Has your child mentioned how hard we have been working on our 3rd grade gateway projects? The focus is on the Civil Rights Movement, and students have been working hard on a slideshow, iMovie, and now a biography research project. Students will be presenting their projects in late April/early May, so be on the lookout for the official dates.
Student of the Month
Congratulations to our student of the month for March!! Congratulations also go out to Elijah, who was a bus student of the month, and to Nikole, Andrew, and Lauren, who were each a student of the week.
Math: Measurement of Elapsed Time, Mass, and Metric Capacity
We are getting ready to work on several areas of measurement in math! We are starting with time, which involves reading clocks to the nearest minute. Then we will work on finding elapsed time, using a t-chart and a number line. Below you will find a link to a site with many activities involving time.
Students will also be working on metric weight (mass) and metric capacity. For mass, students will need to know that 1,000 grams (g) = 1 kilogram (kg). For metric capacity, they will need to know that 1,000 milliliters (mL) = 1 liter (L). Students will need to use this information to be able to estimate mass and capacity and to solve word problems.
