Title I News to Use
Rhyming is a great skill for kids to learn! Nursery rhymes and other children’s poetry often contain a rhythmic beat. When we read them with our children, they develop the feel for that rhythm and often end up memorizing them. This is because rhyming and rhythm access different areas of the brain at the same time. This helps children develop speech and language, along with learning to tell the differences between sounds. In addition to them being interested in the word play of rhymes, they will often sing them or say them when playing independently, which will further develop their word knowledge! This is a great beginning step in early reading!
Parents are such a great “resource” for childhood vocabulary development. But don’t worry, it isn’t nearly as hard as it sounds! J One of the best vocabulary building exercises that exists is to have conversations with our kids! When we talk to them about their day, we involve them in thinking about their experiences. We can then help them find the perfect word to describe their feelings about something fabulous or frightening that happened to them. When you describe things that happen at your job, you can explain some of the terms that are used in your work, too. This will give them some beginning knowledge of your work and may spark their interest to learn more, too. Enjoy talking with your kiddos~~they are amazing people!
Warmer Weather Wear
