PROSPER ISD SCHOOL CLOSING...March 23 - April 3rd (Tentatively)
School-District Closing-----Furr Elementary
Hello Furr Families!
I hope this letter finds YOU well. This past week has been an AMAZING transition into the new norm...E-Learning! Transitioning from traditional school to "E-Learning" has been a major undertaking for us all. I wanted to thank you for your support and your patience, as we navigate this together.
This move towards eLearning has forced all of us towards the use of technology. Our students are having to make the same transitions and I wanted to say few words about this:
1. Attendance: Everyday attendance needs to be taken. Our teachers have an attendance sheet that students need to log-in and sign, on a daily basis. Please make sure your child is signing in.
2. Classwork: A general rule of thumb is that classwork should take approximately 3-4 hours per day. If you find that your child is on his/her computer longer than that, please have a discussion with your child and if further discussion is needed, please reach out to your child's teacher. All daily required classwork should be posted before 8:30 AM.
3. INDEPENDENT STUDENT WORK:
We encourage our students to work independently, as they work on assignments and assessments at school and we still encourage this as we transition to eLearning. We are trying to build independent thinkers, self-starters and having students advocate for themselves. Parents, please encourage this.
4. Access to Teachers: Please know that our teachers are making themselves available to their students from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, virtually. They will answer your question as soon as they can. Please know that our teachers are also in planning meetings to plan lessons for the upcoming week, working with students in small groups, taking care of district responsibilities, etc. All to say, they will help with student questions as soon as they can.
5. Technology Help Desk: Parents and Students please email us at HomeHelp@prosper-isd.net or call 469-219-2444 for help. We are monitoring the phone between the hours of 8 to 4 Monday through Friday. Please leave a detailed voice message and a contact number where we can contact you. Outside of those hours please feel free to send an email to HomeHelp@prosper-isd.net and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Parents and Students: Feel free to use any computer or devices you might have at home to access Prosper ISD eLearning. If you find that you need a district Chromebook or if the Chromebook that you borrowed from the district is no longer working or having issues, a technology staff member will be at Rucker Elementary between 8 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday and will exchange your device. Please complete this form before coming to pick up or exchange a Chromebook.
As more information is received on my end, I will share with you as soon as it is made available to me. Please reach out to your teacher or our Technology Desk if your student needs help. Once again, thank you for your patience and support. Please know that we are in this together and are working to help educate our kids!

Prosper ISD Closure Extended
Dear Prosper ISD Community,
Prosper ISD schools will remain closed through Friday, April 3 in an effort to support the community, region, and nation's need to slow the spread of Covid-19. This action follows the advice and direction from local, state, and national health authorities. The District will use the week of March 30 - April 3 to reassess whether there is a need to extend the suspension of normal district operations beyond April 3 and will communicate a decision to the public at that time.
We wish to express gratitude to our entire community of families, staff, volunteers, and community partners for your patience and support during these uncertain times. Please know that PISD will remain flexible as we roll out our long-term plan for instructional continuity, and as we navigate the many details of this unprecedented situation. Although our buildings remain closed, we will continue to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of our students and families.
We will stay connected with you through our multiple communications channels and ask that you please visit our COVID-19 eLearning and Informational Updates page to receive the most current and accurate information about this extended closure and Prosper ISD's response to the COVID-19 health concern.
We have sincerely tried to evaluate every possible scenario, but fully realize that there may be something unforeseen that needs more attention. If so, please do not hesitate to reach out to us so that we can address it immediately.
Thank you all for your grace and patience and please stay safe.
Dr. Drew Watkins
Superintendent of Schools
