By Kids FOR Kids: The Power of Making a Difference
One of the most important aspects of our faith and learning journeys at SJXXIII is to foster the belief that every child has gifts to share, and that each one of them can and do make a difference in our world. Our Grade Four Servant Leadership teams; Faith, Young Citizens, School Spirit, and Healthy Living, took the lead on our Valeda House/Chalice Foster Children Fundraiser today. With their team leaders, each student reflected on what their strengths were and where they felt called to serve. We had cashiers, pick up crew, set-up, pricing, advertisers, sales associates, clean-up crew...It was amazing to see these grade fours lead and serve today! We even had a film crew in from Catholic School Services to film our event and interview staff and students! Stay tuned!
Every student at Saint John XXIII contributed to the event today. Some brought items for donations, some shopped at our extravaganza, and everyone prays at each assembly for our friends at Valeda House. Learning to share what we have with those in need is an important part of fostering generosity, compassion, and love. It is within and through these relationships with others that we all learn humility, grace, and love. While our students may never visit Valeda House or our foster children in Peru or the Philippines, each one of them can relate to being a child and knowing that they have made a difference today! Thank-you to everyone in our Saint John XXIII Village for your generosity and support.
Today we raised $783.30! Way to GIVE SJXXIII!

Thanks to Mrs. L. Morin and 3LM for our Jump Rope Day: May 14th
Mrs. L. Morin and her grade 3 crew led our school community in a Jump Rope day where classes got a chance to spend a period skipping and jumping! The kids loved it and our grade threes were terrific leaders! We will share our total raised for the Heart & Stroke foundation as soon as we hear! Thanks once again for your donations!

Demographic Confirmation Forms-please complete and submit ASAP
The “EICS Demographic Confirmation Form” for the 2019-2020 school year, is now available for you to complete and submit, for each of your children attending an Elk Island Catholic School. The form is found online in your PowerSchool Parent Portal.
This form is a mandatory document and is required to be updated for every student each year, as it could greatly impact you with respect to the Canada Revenue Agency information and Immigration when they request validation of your information. Alberta Education requires that we obtain a detailed update of student demographics on an annual basis. Funding they provide for your child's education is conditional to us receiving these updates and making them part of the student's record. We would appreciate you completing and submitting this form, for each of your children, as soon as possible.
Please contact our school secretary, Jeannette Wilson, at 780-998-7777 if you have any questions or require assistance.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
