One Book One School Update
Books for 2016-17
Top Three Choices
Drum roll please...Teachers surveys and input have guided the Reading Motivation Committee to narrow next year's book choice to three- The World According to Humphrey, The Tale of Despereaux, and The Year of Billy MIller. Over the summer, we'd like to give you time to read, investigate, and think about each of these three books. In August, teachers will vote from these top three choices to determine WRE's 2016-17 book.

We Want YOUR Input
Our selection of The One and Only Ivan was made quickly by the Reading Committee due to a quick turn around time in ordering the books. In true OSOB fashion, we want YOUR input on our top three choices. As you read and review these books over the summer, please record your thoughts and questions about the books on this Google Spreadsheet. Don't feel as though you must complete the whole spreadsheet. Rather, if you have specific thoughts, you may share those. It will be interesting as the summer progresses to our online thoughts!
Funding
The 2015-16 total expense was approximately $6500. Keep in mind that was chapter books for all students and the companion picture book for Kindergarten and First Grade Classrooms. We funded the cost with Scholastic Dollars, PTO, and a Noblesville Foundation Mini Grant. Looking head to next year, there are some benefits from purchasing the books from OSOB. If you'd really like to dream big, check out some model schools.
WRE PTO
Our WRE PTO has created in their budget for next school year a line item for OSOB. By removing the old Science Fund and with some money that carries over to the 2016-17 budget, the PTO was able to budget $2000 for our books. They were able to allow for this line item without dipping into the Enrichment Funds. We REALLY APPRECIATE our PTO allocating funds to help support literacy and school unity through a program that impacts the entire school!
Noblesville Educational Foundation Grant
Our school was awarded a MIni Grant for $300 to cover some OSOB expenses. We'll apply for another Mini Grant in the Fall by the second Friday in October which is funding awarded for the Spring of 2017.
If you have knowledge or experience with writing for other grant money, please share your information with a READ MO Committee member!
