Principal's Notes
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Finally, we're back! We have been practicing our transitions and safety checks but with approximately 200 students coming to school physically distant there is still plenty of room for mistakes. Thank you parents for all your patience in the driveways and parking lot as we check the temperature of each student. It is so important that parent drivers arrive during their assigned time - please don't be early, it will throw off the bus arrival and departure time. Also, parents who are picking up to walk or ride bikes home, should meet their child at the bike racks. The map is included again. Our parking lot needs to be bigger so your patience and support are really helpful!
Every student should be bringing home a piece of paper with their last name on it (printed three times). We are asking that you place it on your dashboard so it is visible to staff when we bring students out at the end of the day. It's a security step for us to acknowledge which car matches which student. Please fold it in thirds or cut it up to leave in your "other" car. Thank you for helping us with this security step.
Now that your child is getting more aware of teachers and staff, check out these links to see the FlipGrid introductions.

Parents, we have homework for you! Please check the article below on the informational updates to keep student information updated.
Please note the Picture Day Schedule below. We had to make adjustments to our Picture Day Schedule when the Hybrid Model was established back in August. These days are coming on us quickly and I sincerely apologize to all our Jewish families who are celebrating Rosh Hashanah Friday evening. We had no choices but to take the 18th. Class photos will not be taken this year.
Also, please note that Sibling Photo Day is here this Saturday, September 12th at Orchard from 11:00-1:00!
Chromebooks will be going home next for our older students - Tuesday for Blue Groups & Friday for Gray Groups. We apologize for this delay. We know this will compromise some of the remote learning. We have been so impressed that students have been very productive in their smaller learning pods already.
Good luck to all of our VTVLC students, their first online school day is Monday - keep in touch! Stay safe, stay well, and take some time to read with your child.

Parents - We have Homework for You
Student Information Updates - It is imperative for parents to update their student information (especially medical information). The annual update will be completed online this year. Please go to the District web page and drop down Registration.
Click on Registering a Returning student 2020-2021. This is where you will update your student's information for the school year.
If you recently registered a new student or your child is a incoming Kindergartener, you will not need to complete the forms again.
Please contact Allyson or Sue in the Office if you have any questions.
Thank you!

Parent Portal Account - Parents, the school district is moving toward communicating through the Student Portal: Over the summer, the District made Annual Student Update forms available via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. You will need this account when filling out your student’s form for the 2020-2021 school year. The online forms will replace the thick packet of papers that have previously been mailed home to families from the schools each summer.
All returning families should have an account.- you may have received an email from orch_reg@sbschools.net in June informing you that one was created for you, if you did not have a portal account at the time. Please check your email for that important information about your account.
New families should have created accounts when registering your students. If you have any problems please email orch_reg@sbschools.net.
Daily Health Screening - We will be starting a “live” test of our health screening system . This will help us find communication errors and make any necessary corrections. At 6 AM you will receive one text, and one email, or both, depending on your contact information in our system (PowerSchool).
The link in the text or email will contain questions for each of your children. Questions will need to be answered and submitted for each child separately. If you have not answered the questions by 6:30 AM, you will be prompted again to answer the questions.
If you are not able to complete the questions for each of your children by 7 AM, please do so as soon as possible prior to school arrival.
