Two Wonderful "Hornet Highlights"
From Shelley Rosales-White
"Our daughter, Gabriela Rosales White, attended her last class last week to take her final, and she received a 94% on the written portion. When in the Culinary program, you also have what's called a "practical final" similar to the show IRON CHEF. The students arrive and pull out of hat/box, the designated meal w/ sides, soup, stock and sauce that is to be prepared within a 2 hour timeframe. Once the buzzer goes off, everybody stops. Then the judging begins. Gabriela prepared sautéed chicken w/Hungarian sauce, rice pilaf and Brussell sprouts w/pecan butter, split pea soup, chicken stock, all while she was being judged on knife skills of cutting the chicken correctly, and dicing the vegetables in consistent portion/size and shapes. She completed the entire course with an overall 92%.
We are very proud parents that Gabriela graduated from Ivy Tech's Culinary program with an "A" - even before she receives her high school diploma!"

Spring Spec is This Weekend!
Central Elementary Families
From Coach Matt Irwin . . .
"This past weekend, the BG Wrestling Club had another fantastic showing to cap off its 2015-2016 season. Leading the charge was Phenix Carney and Jacob Skinner who won state medals in freestyle and greco! Phenix earned 2nd and 3rd, while Jacob earned a pair of 2nd places. Also, Luke Goodwin was a 3rd place finisher in his weight class and Hayden Cochran was 4th in the pee-wee division. Harley Taylor earned a 6th place finish in greco for his weight class. This season has been a huge success, and we can't wait for a great summer and the upcoming season!"

Send Us Your Hornet Highlights!
We know there are many, many positive stories about Beech Grove City Schools involving our students, teachers, staff, and programs that we don't always hear. If you have a positive story to share, please send the details to Melody Stevens, Community Relations Director, at mstevens@bgcs.k12.in.us. We also encourage you to send stories that include personal achievements of your child such as: attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, performing in a community play, earning Girl Scout badges, serving as a volunteer in a non-profit organization, etc., etc. You might just see your story in a future edition of the "Hornet Blast" or in one of our local south side newspapers. We want to celebrate our Hornets!
