CRUSADER NEWS THAT YOU CAN USE....
August 31, 2018
This Week's Recap....
Another great week! The students are getting into the routine of school and are working hard to learn expectations, routines and procedures. I am proud of all of our students.
A comment from Mr. Patterson, our morning "parking lot patrol" parent... Thank you to our parents for being so cooperative and following the procedures that have been set in place to keep our students safe and keep traffic moving. I would like to also explain that the reason we don't allow you to walk through the exit of the parking lot is because we do not want the children walking that close to cars. For that reason, we have installed the pedestrian gate. I know that it takes a few extra minutes, but it's worth it.
Please remember that there is no school on Monday because of Labor Day. Here is some information on the origin of Labor Day, for your information.

There is a September lunch menu included at the bottom of this email.
Join us on Tuesday Night at 6PM for the PTL Rally!
The BEST thing that happened this week...
Volleyball and Praise Group tryouts... it was wonderful to see lots of new students who want to take part in an extracurricular activity. And, we see lots of energy and enthusiasm.
Please remind your students that participation in an after-school activity is contingent upon having grades and behavior that meet our standards and policies. Right now, everyone is eligible so keep up the good work!
The biggest problem we have had this week is....
Another issue is disconnected or wrong phone numbers and/or addresses. If you change any of your information, we must have the new information. If we have an emergency, we must be able to contact a parent. There is a form in the office that needs to be completed and dated. We did have a sick little girl on Friday and every number that we had was not a good number. Please don't let this happen to your child.
Background check authorization
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THIS LAST YEAR, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY AGAIN AS THERE IS A COST TO HOLY CROSS AND YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK IS STILL VALID.
Here is the link to the tab on our website:

Stewardship Opportunities
I need for one parent to volunteer to update our information board by the front sidewalk once per month. This can be done any time of the day.
You can also ask your child's teacher is she/he needs help with any project in the classroom or if there are things that can be done at home.
COMING SOON... SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
If you wish to volunteer to help, please contact Mrs. Trujillo by phone or email her at strujillo@holycross-nm.org.
At the book fair this year, you will have the option to prepay for your child's book shopping online in advance.
RENWEB
The district code is HC-FL.
Students can have their own logon.

World's Finest Chocolate is Here!
Middle School Chromebook Information.
We had to return almost half of the chromebooks over the summer for repairs. Most of the issues were keyboard issues and a few broken screens. These issues would not occur if they were used properly and stored properly.
Chromebooks should be carried by students, NOT PUT IN BACKPACKS under books.. If not with the student, they should be put at the TOP OF THE LOCKER, not under books. The weight of the books cause lots of problems.
If we find the chromebook laying around the school anywhere at anytime, it will be sent to the office and a parent must come in and retrieve it. The first time is a warning, after that there are consequences.
All chromebooks must be kept in the plastic sleeve that is provided and stored in a padded, zippered case. The case must have the student's name written in permanent marker prominently on the front of the padded case. These can be purchased inexpensively.
Special "DRESS DOWN" Day
Students may wear their own clothes to school as long as they bring a donation of at least $1.00 for this worthy cause. Most of our families have been touched in some way by this disease and a cure must be found.
Clothing must be appropriate for school and sandals and heavy boots may not be worn. Students who do not participate in the fundraising should wear regular uniforms to school.
Please support this organization as they work to find ways to help those suffering with this and their caregivers. Checks made out to Holy Cross can be accepted.
