JSMS Combined Holiday Concert
Good Afternoon All,
The annual performance by Sevier’s outstanding 7th and 8th grade musicians at Toy F. Reid is approaching and I wanted to take just a minute to provide you with a few initial details for planning purposes. It will work very similarly to previous years.
The concert for 5th graders and the Sevier student body will be on morning of Thursday, December 13th. The affected block of time will be around 8:30-10:30. The 8th graders should have no issue getting back to school before lunch. All performers will report to Eastman instead of Sevier on this day. The directors will keep attendance for the students in their group.
The rehearsal day for 7th and 8th grade band, chorus, and orchestra students is on Wednesday, December 12th. Band students will start their day at Eastman and arrive at school around 10:15 – I will keep their attendance. Orchestra students will depart from Sevier at 9:30 and should return to school around 12:45. Chorus students will depart from Sevier at 11:45 and return around 2:15. In addition to normal rehearsal day activities, the Jazz Band and 8th grade percussionists will be providing music for the ASC luncheon from roughly Noon-1:00pm.
Specific instructions/information about the logistics of the concert day will follow closer to that time. Student performers have already been instructed to stay current with their assignments in your classes, work ahead when possible, and make necessary arrangements to complete missed work.
On behalf of the performing arts faculty, I would like to thank all of the staff at Sevier for your continued support and flexibility in allowing us to produce this concert. Similar events are enjoyed by very few systems at the middle school level. It is a remarkable opportunity for all involved and one of the many time-honored traditions at Sevier that makes our school special.
Musically,
Hunter Mullins
