SLE Weekly Update April 8, 2022
Good afternoon East families,
On Thursday morning school was dismissed due to a message that was found in one of our restrooms in the commons that said “bomb in 2302”. A K-9 sweep was conducted and nothing was found. We understand the impact this event has had on our students, their parents/guardians, and our staff, and we recognize that some may continue to feel concerned. The health and safety of our students is always a priority and we are committed to providing an environment where students feel supported and able to learn. We ask that students and parents support us in this effort by sharing any information they may have regarding this matter. Students should be reminded that making a false threat is a felony and those students involved in this behavior will face serious school and legal consequences. We will continue to investigate, review surveillance footage, and interview students as needed.
As a reminder, MME and PSAT testing will take place next week. Please take a moment to review the schedule below. A message was sent to all senior parents informing them of the 4/13 service project earlier today. Senior parents, please make sure you fill out the required form sent in the email.
Thank you for your time and support,
East Administration
Testing Reminders
Timed Tests – all the tests are timed so students must be to school on time, no one will be admitted after 7:35 a.m. on any of the testing days. We encourage all students to arrive by 7:15 a.m. or earlier to enjoy a complimentary breakfast.
No cell phones or electronic devices- These items are NOT permitted in the testing rooms at any time, even if they are powered off. Being in possession of these items in the test room will result in an invalidation of the test.
Photo Identification - students must show either their school ID or a driver’s license when they check in.
Calculators – students may bring and use a calculator for some of the mathematics portion of the exam. School issued calculators are acceptable to PSAT. Students who do not have one of these calculators should request to borrow one from Mrs. Joslin in the media center before test day. No calculators will be issued on test day.
No food, drink or other unnecessary items in the test rooms – Students should plan to only bring #2 pencils (no mechanical pencils), their photo ID, and calculator.
Bus transportation will be provided on all test days and all buses will leave at the dismissal time stated in the schedule above. Students who drive or are driven to school will also be expected to arrive and leave at the times stated in the schedule. No student may leave school prior to the end of any of the testing times.
