Monday, Nov. 2: Cleaning Day & Staff Work Day
On Monday, Nov. 2, Nixa will take a day and go virtual for the district to allow for a cleaning day with students not in the building. Students will have activities they can work on independently that day. Staff will be working in their buildings that day (PLC and work day) so they have time to catch up on planning as well as work to finish up the second part of the semester. This day will not need to be made up since it will be a virtual learning day.
Parents: devices for K-4 students will come home with them on Friday, Oct. 30. They will need to be returned to school on Wednesday, Nov. 4
Reminder: Nov. 3 was already scheduled as a professional development day and this is in addition to that. Students will not be expected to login virtually on Nov. 3.
We wanted to inform you of this well in advance so you can plan and also so as not to cause panic. We are doing this as a precautionary measure as we enter a season of flu, colds, strep throat, and COVID-19, as well as give our teachers & staff more time to plan.
To assist with childcare, XLT will have a School Day Off (SDO). Information on childcare for that day is below.
Please note this is in addition to the Nov. 3 professional development day that students were already scheduled to be off. XLT also has a School Day Off (SDO) for childcare on Nov. 3. To sign up for the Tuesday, Nov. 3 SDO, go to www.nixaxlt.net.

They will accept:
- Any pills
- Any liquid medications
They will NOT accept:
- Needles
- Infectious Waste
- Aerosol Cans
When: Saturday, October 24th from 10am-2pm.
Where: Nixa CVS Pharmacy
Why: Proper disposal of medications
Don't be an accidental drug dealer.
Keeping unused prescription drugs in your home could make you a target for theft of those medications by people who may be addicted to them.
Taking expired medications can be dangerous to your health.
Throwing away medications in the trash or flushing them down the toilet can put dangerous chemicals into the water supply or our rivers and streams where they can harm swimmers, fish, and other wildlife.
So please, take advantage of national Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
This is a national event sponsored by the DEA.
Locally, the Nixa Police Department is partnering with the Nixa CVS Pharmacy to collect medications so they can be disposed of properly.

Current COVID-19 Numbers
The district’s new COVID-19 case numbers have been updated at www.nixapublicschools.net/covid19. Please note these are the new cases that we identified as positive during that week.
In addition, due to the increase in cases in the county, the Christian County Health Department is using resources from across the state, so if you are identified as a direct contact the phone call could come from area codes across the state.
COVID-19 Plan
Make sure you stay up to date with our plans at www.nixapublicschools.net/covid19 with any updates or adjustments that happen during this ever changing situation.
