We are continuing to plan for the start of the 2022-23 school year! We are so excited to be welcoming all Whittier students to school on Thursday, August 25. We hope you are all as excited as we are!
This brief newsletter will give you some "need now" info, and a more detailed newsletter will be sent next weekend (the Sunday morning editions will begin on Sunday, August 21) with more info to get you ready for the start of school.

8:15-11:20am (Monday-Friday)
Grades 1-6 and OKEEP:
8:15am-2:00pm (Monday)
8:15am-3:00pm (Tuesday-Friday)

The Whittier PTA will be hosting its annual Back to School Get Together on Tuesday, August 23 from 3:00-4:30pm on the Intermediate Playground (closest to Grand and Hill). More info to come!

Band and Orchestra Information
During the school year, the instrumental music students will participate in one weekly pull-out lesson at their school. These lessons will begin at the elementary schools the week of September 12. Please watch your email for lesson and after school rehearsal schedules for your building. In the fall, students will also begin participating in a once weekly after school rehearsal to prepare full ensemble music to play at their Winter and Spring concerts. We can’t wait to see the growth and progress our students will continue to make as the school year continues!

Apply to be an instructional assistant:
District 58 is hiring several full-time and part-time instructional assistant positions at various schools. Instructional assistants help supervise students and support classroom teachers through small-group or individual student instruction, under the teacher’s guidance. The starting salary is $16/hour. Some instructional assistant positions that work in specialized programs also will receive a $1,200 stipend. Learn more and apply at www.dg58.org/employment.
Apply to be a registered nurse:
District 58 is hiring a full-time and part-time registered nurse at various schools. Registered nurses help implement health and safety protocols at each of our buildings and are instrumental in addressing both routine and unexpected medical needs within the school setting. Apply to be a custodian:
District 58 is hiring full-time night custodian positions. The District is also hiring part-time and full-time substitute custodian positions. The starting salary is $16/hour for night custodians and $15/hour for substitute custodians. Learn more and apply at www.dg58.org/employment.

District 58 seeks substitute teachers, nurses, instructional assistants, secretaries and custodians.
Substitute teacher applicants must hold a valid substitute license or teacher’s license. Substitute nurse applicants must hold an active RN or LPN license, as well as a valid substitute license.
District 58 substitute teachers, nurses, instructional assistants and secretaries generally work from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Half-day subs work from 8 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. or 11:56 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. District 58 substitute custodians work varied shifts, depending on the position needing to be filled.
Substitute teachers/nurses earn $150 per day, substitute instructional assistants earn $98 per day, and clerical substitutes earn $15 per hour. Learn more information at https://www.dg58.org/about/substitute-information.

All District 58 schools are hiring lunchroom supervisors. Please consider supporting our schools by serving in this capacity. Lunchroom supervisors earn $15/hour.
Individuals interested in applying for or learning more about this job at a specific school should call or visit the school where they would like to work during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). School phone numbers/addresses are available at www.dg58.org.
Applicants will complete a lunchroom supervisor application, W-4s, an I-9 verification form, an employee statement and a physical fitness form. Other forms may be required as well, depending on the school. Upon completion of these forms, applicants will schedule an appointment to be fingerprinted.
