December 16th, 2021

Monroe Families,

As our Winter Break nears, we want to wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year. As a calendar year, 2021 has been full of ups and downs but we are thankful that schools were able to open at normal capacity this past fall and that we have remained in-person since our opening. We value and cherish the opportunity to partner in service to your child/children. They bring us great joy and while these past two years have been far from normal, our Eagles fill our school campus each day with abundant wonder, imagination, and energy.

In the coming year, we look forward to more opportunities to gather together as a school community. Events like last week's Natural Leaders gathering have provided a blueprint for how we can join together while remaining healthy and safe. Virtual and drive-by events have filled the gaps across this pandemic but we are hopeful that we be able to safely gather in-person often in the coming school year.

Below is a brief holiday greeting on behalf of our Monroe Team. We wish you all family-filled break with time together and time for rest. Happy Holidays from Monroe!

As noted in our most recent edition of MOE News, we are thrilled to welcome Transitional Kindergarten back to our Monroe campus. This program is free and available as an option for any/all families with children entering kindergarten next year (fall 2022).

Our class will be located here, on campus, next door to our kindergarten program. Our Transitional Kindergarten program is specifically designed to prepare students for success in kindergarten through focusing on foundational academic, social, and self-help skills. Entering students will be screened during the months of December and January and may qualify based on need (registration form)

Our Transitional Kindergarten class will start on Tuesday, February 1st and will run through the last day of school, which is currently June 22, 2022.

To be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten, children must:

  • be 5 years old by August 31, 2022
  • live within the boundaries of Everett Public Schools
  • not be currently enrolled in an early learning program
  • demonstrate academic and/or social-emotional needs through a screening process

This Saturday (12/18), from noon to 5:00pm, Jackson High School will be collecting food for the Mill Creek Community Food Bank. This is JHS's biggest community service event of the year, and likely, their most important.

The food bank is busy all year, but it is especially needed during the holiday season and the winter months. JHS students are working to fill their shelves as we head into the holidays. They are accepting any/all non-perishable food items and personal hygiene items. Below are additional details:

  • What: Jackson High School Food Drive
  • When: Saturday, 12/18, from noon-5:00pm
  • Where: Jackson High School, Back Parking Area (behind the school, not in front of the school; entry is behind the gym)
  • Why: To support the Mill Creek Community Food Bank
  • Who: Anyone and everyone! This is our opportunity to come together as a community for something really amazing.
  • How: Drive up and donate. We can unload straight from your vehicle, so you don’t even have to get out of your car!

Below is a snapshot of our Lost & Found as of this afternoon. As you head-off for our Winter Break, please know that we will keep our Lost & Found (below) intact through the break. If your child/children misplaced an item at school recently, please visit our Lost & Found after school or take a look on Fridays when we roll the items out to our front entryway.
