Dear Quince Orchard Students, Staff, and Families,

I hope this letter finds you well. On behalf of the Quince Orchard High School Staff, I would like to warmly welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! Throughout the summer our instructional leadership team has been meeting to plan for staff and student arrival in August. Our focus during this planning time was grounded in our commitment to creating an anti-biased and anti-racist learning community where all students and staff are welcomed, valued, and celebrated. This focus was highlighted in our theme, “Paradigm Shift 2.0- Shining the Light.” Our learning was purposely aligned with the MCPS strategic plan and the system's aligned priorities which are:

  • Building and rebuilding trust,

  • Supporting health and social-emotional well-being, and

  • refocusing on equitable teaching and learning.

Throughout the year, we expect you to see evidence of the ways we are committed to a fundamental change in our approaches. This begins with cultivating an unconditional positive regard for students and staff. The term unconditional positive regard was coined by psychologist Carl R. Rogers, who developed an approach called client-centered psychotherapy. Here's how Rogers described unconditional positive regard, “It means that there are no conditions of acceptance, no feeling of “I like you only if you are thus and so." Alfie Kohn built upon Roger’s work with the concept of “unconditional teaching” to apply unconditional positive regard to the classroom…Unconditional teachers accept students for who they are, not what they do.” (From Equity-Centered Trauma-Informed Education by Alex Shevrin Venet)

As a school, as educators, we must understand that unconditional positive regard is an equity approach when we put it into practice everyday. Therefore, our actions, policies, procedures, and processes must be grounded in an unconditional positive regard for each other. To support this commitment, we took time throughout last year and this summer to review and revamp a few of our policies to ensure they were restorative and supportive. For example, you will see our updated dress code, attendance and tardy policy, and cell phone policy communicated in the body of the newsletter.

All of this will help us be the best we can be for our students, staff, and community when we return on the first day of school, Monday, Aug. 29, 2022.

To ease the transition of either coming to Quince Orchard for the first time or returning to in person teaching and learning, I want to share what you can expect from us in terms of ongoing communication. Our goal is to tell the story of Quince Orchard through multiple venues and to regularly share important information with you. To accomplish this goal, you can expect the following:

  1. A weekly call out every Sunday night at 6:15 pm which will be supplemented with an equivalent email message (Both are done simultaneously through the Blackboard Connect Ed System). The first weekly school year callout will be sent on Sunday, August 21, 2022 and continue every week for the remainder of the year unless there is no school.

  2. Access to our weekly newsletter, which offers translations in multiple languages, through the use of SMORE.

  3. All daily announcements will be posted to our school website(QOHS.ORG) and on Canvas.

  4. Daily updates will be made on the main page of the QOHS.ORG site with news, events and important dates.

  5. Twitter will be utilized to communicate messages and share news with our community. Many of our teams, clubs, departments, staff members, and parent organizations have their own Twitter accounts so please contact them to access their specific Twitter handles. The remainder of this newsletter includes information to help you prepare for the 2022-2023 school year. Please read the information under each category heading carefully. For the class of 2026 and anyone new to QOHS, there will be a welcome cookout with light refreshments and a meeting on Wednesday, August 24th beginning at 6:00 pm in the front of the building. New student orientation will be on Thursday, August 25th from 7:30-11:30 am. This is for all new students to QOHS.

The information provided in this letter is our one consistent communication vehicle that reaches every home. We will continue to utilize a similar format to update you as we hear about any changes. In closing, I want to share that I am thrilled to begin my fifth year as the principal of Quince Orchard High School. As I begin my 27th year as an educator, I am energized and grateful for the unwavering support of our dynamic school community. Please know that we will continue to create the conditions needed for ALL students to experience excellence. And never forget…We can’t hide our Cougar Pride!

Fall Sports Registration Information

MCPS and Quince Orchard High School are excited to announce that registration for Fall Sports will open on Monday, July 11! Below is information regarding the upcoming Fall Sports season, as well as the registration process. Additional information can be found on the MCPS Athletics website. (Note – tryouts for Fall sports will start on Wednesday, August 10th).

How to Register

Students must be registered by a parent through the MCPS ParentVue Portal. Students must be registered by Monday, August 8th in order to guarantee that their registration will be processed in time for the first day of tryouts.

Steps for Registering via ParentVue

  1. Login to MCPS ParentVue Portal

  2. Locate “Online Registration” in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

  3. You should then see prompts to enter information for the “2022-2023 HS Athletics Registration – Fall”.
    If you see something for “Annual Verification” or “Resume Annual Registration”, please click the “Start Over” button, logout and log back in, this should then allow you to access the Athletic Registration.

  4. The Athletics Registration screens will have you verify information in the system and then allow you to review and complete the Athletics Registration forms.
    If any of the information appearing on the “Family” or “Parent/Guardian” information screens is incorrect, please contact our Registrar at Kristin_A_Barnes@mcpsmd.org to have this corrected before completing your registration.

ParentVue Troubleshooting Information

If a parent is having trouble logging into the MCPS ParentVue Portal:

  • If you have never activated your parent account:
    Parents were sent activation information at the beginning of the school year, which included an Activation Key. If you still have this information, use it to activate your parent account. If you do not have the activation information, call the Main Office at Quince Orchard at 240-740-3600 during normal office hours.

  • Forgot your password? Click on the Forgot Password link on the ParentVue Portal.

  • Forgot the email address you used to activate your account? Email Quince Orchard Athletic Director Jeffrey_L_Rabberman@mcpsmd.org. Be sure to include the student name, ID and parent name in the email.

Pre-Participation Physicals

Students should complete their pre-participation physical (MCPS Form SR-8) so that the medical eligibility form (last two pages of SR-8) is ready for online submission or for submission to the coach prior to tryouts/practices. Physicals are valid for one calendar year. A partial list of Clinics that offer Sports Physicals within the Montgomery County area is available online. Physicals can be uploaded by the parent during the registration process. However, if a parent needs to submit a physical after the student has already been registered, email an electronic copy of the completed pre-participation physical (MCPS Form SR-8) to Quince Orchard Athletic Director Jeffrey_L_Rabberman@mcpsmd.org.

Season Passes

Season Passes for the 2022-23 school year are now on sale through GoFan. You can purchase Season Passes for the Full Year, Fall, Winter or Spring. Click on the type of season pass you would like to purchase and from there you can select Adult (ages 19-62) and/or Student (ages 11-18). All season passes are good for REGULAR SEASON HOME GAMES ONLY!

This method will be the ONLY way to purchase season passes. We will not accept cash or checks. All Season Tickets will be sold through GoFan.

Attendance and Tardy Policy

Regular attendance fosters a classroom community between teachers and children. Students who attend school are more likely to succeed academically. Students gain background knowledge from discussions while learning in school. Attending school also provides time for social interactions with peers. To create a culture of regular attendance we must have a shared commitment by students, families, and all school staff.

Excused Absences

Students are to submit a note to the attendance office within three days following the absence (please include a phone number on the note). The attendance secretary will process the note.

Early Departures

Students are to drop off their permission notes by 7:25 AM at the attendance office window. The attendance secretary will prepare the early departure notes.

*Please note: absence and early departure notes can be emailed directly to our attendance secretary, Ms. Stephanie Bradley. Please be sure to include the seven pieces of information listed below.

Extended Absences Needing Prior Approval

Students requesting an extended absence must bring their note to an administrator for prior approval. If approval is granted, the note will be copied to teachers and the attendance office will retain the original copy for the student's file.

The following SEVEN pieces of information must be listed on all student tardy and absence notes:

  1. Student's Full Legal Name

  2. ID Number

  3. Grade

  4. Date(s) of Absence

  5. Reason for Absence

  6. Parent/Guardian's Work and Home Telephone Number

  7. Parent/Guardian's Signature, or Student's Signature if Age of Majority is on file.

Quince Orchard High School Tardy Procedures

Being on time to school and class is important because we know that every minute spent learning is helping our students get one step closer to a goal. Learning from the first minute is important. Being on time signals that there is a shared commitment to our collective vision of excellence. Thus, we must collectively work together to welcome students and staff into the learning community.

  • First tardy: the teacher verbally addresses the lateness with the student and documents in a teacher created log (Synergy attendance log can be used). This will be implemented by the teacher.
  • Second tardy: written documentation in the contact log located in Synergy, by the teacher after contact with the student’s family.
  • Third tardy: teacher developed “reflection time” is implemented. The timeframe and location will be determined by the teacher. If the student does not attend the “reflection time” with the teacher, the teacher will share the student’s name and prior information with the grade level administrator.
  • Fourth tardy: student’s name is then shared, via email, with the grade level administrator for additional support.

Back to School Night

Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 1, 2022. Back to School Night will serve as a way to meet your student’s teachers, learn about our school district initiatives, and hear about our Quince Orchard school focus for the school year. We will be in person this year, with a virtual option. More information to come.

Class of 2023 Senior Information & Updates

  • Senior shirts are available in the school store! See the Spirit Wear section below for more information. If you'd like your senior shirt in time for the first day, you must get yours through the school store before July 28.

  • Senior Breakfast: start YOUR year off with a celebration! The senior breakfast will take place before school on the first day, August 29. Parents, if you'd like to help out, please contact Ms. Kimberly Menefee at Kimberly_Menefee@mcpsmd.org

  • Senior fees: Senior fees include your cap and gown and other expenses related to graduation. You will be able to pay your senior fees online through the school store with a credit card beginning in late August. (processing fee will apply)

    • August -October 31: $70

    • November 1-January 31: $80

    • February 1-April 30: $90

  • Senior Portraits: If you have not taken your senior photos, Prestige Photography will be on-site in August and September for make-ups, but you must contact their office to schedule an appointment at: 1-800-736-4753 or schedule.prestigeportraits.com.

Class Shirts & Spirit Wear

Class of 2023 and Red Army shirts (click the link to see what they look like) are on sale now through July 28, 2022, so that students can have them for the first day of school and our first athletic events. Each shirt is $16 and the proceeds go to support the Class of 2022 activities, including graduation.

If you'd like to purchase one or both, here’s how to pre-order:

  • Through the QOHS online store. Warning: this option only works if you are an MCPS parent with a student currently enrolled somewhere in the district. If you aren't an MCPS parent, but you have a friend or colleague willing to help you, please make sure your name goes in the "Purchase Notes" field.

At this time, we are not able to order extra shirts, so the summer sale is the way to go.

Cougars Connect Information

Our students continued to learn valuable new things in Cougars Connect this past school year. As we reflected and solicited feedback from our Instructional Leadership team, it was determined that the best way to continue supporting our students and program would be to attach Cougars Connect to our period 3 classes. Below is a quick overview of the change.


  • Students will stay in their period 3 class for Cougars Connect.

  • The day and times of Cougars Connect will continue to be Thursdays from 10:06 am - 11:28 am.

  • Cougars Connect and homeroom are not the same thing; homerooms are assigned by grade levels and will be utilized to disseminate schoolwide and countywide information.

Digital Student Handbook

This year we are excited to continue using an Online Student Handbook to better meet the needs of all of our students and parents. All students will receive access to a digital handbook that contains many of the policies and procedures in place at Quince Orchard High School. Please encourage your child(ren) to read the handbook carefully. We also encourage parents to become familiar with the information provided as well.

Dress Code Policy

Students have a responsibility to be dressed for school in ways that uphold the learning environment and avoid learning disruption.

Students will be counseled if their style of dress:

● Causes a disruption to the school environment, including any school-sponsored activities

● Endangers or potentially threatens the health and/or safety of self or others

● Fails to meet a reasonable requirement of a course or activity

● Is associated with gangs

● Is or has the potential to become lewd, vulgar, obscene, see-through, or insensitive [note: undergarments may not function as outer garments]

● Promotes the use of tobacco, alcohol or drugs

As long as the student's style of dress is consistent with these guidelines, they are permitted to wear religious garments and accessories that support and/or represent cultural identity.

Staff will equitably advise all students regardless of race, gender, and/or identity, about inappropriate dress while in the school building and/or school-sponsored practices, events, and functions and inform the student’s counselor for further advice. Staff will make every effort to avoid embarrassment of students to preserve their relationship with the student and avoid any potential negative impacts to any student’s mental health and well-being.

As we continue our journey of examining and reflecting on current policies and practices that exist at QOHS, we are in the process of reviewing and adjusting our cell phone policy to reflect our school focus and commitment to our unconditional positive regard approach. We are in the process of gathering stakeholder input and will share the revised policy closer to the start of the school year.

Good Habits for Student Success

At Quince Orchard High School we will be working very hard to provide our students with a rigorous and relevant educational program. We believe all students can achieve at high levels. There are several habits and behaviors that contribute to success in high school.

  • Successful students attend classes on time.
  • Successful students have good study skills and keep track of homework, projects and activities with an assignment book or digital calendar.
  • Successful students ask for help when needed and persevere when things are tough.
  • Successful students seek challenging courses and programs.
  • Successful students get involved in positive activities, clubs, and sports, both in and out of school.
  • Successful students work cooperatively with school staff and fellow classmates and follow school rules.

Hazing & Bullying

Bullying, harassment (including sexual misconduct and sexual harassment), intimidation, hazing, incidents of hate-bias, and concerning issues involving student gender identity are not tolerated in MCPS. We are committed to ensuring our students feel safe, valued, and respected in our schools. We appreciate your support in stressing with your students the importance of refraining from and/or tolerating such behaviors and reporting them immediately when they occur. Health Room Information

Health room staff will be available beginning August 24, 2022. Forms may be submitted over the summer by:

Please Note: - Health room staff will NOT be monitoring health forms sent over the summer; forms will be reviewed when health staff return in August 2022. For school-related health matters that require planning during the summer, please call School Health Services during normal weekday business hours at 240-777-1550.

1. Summer physicals & healthcare appointments:

Please plan to bring health forms that are applicable to appointments your child may have this summer:

Health Inventory Form, Medication Authorization Form, Anaphylaxis Medication Form, Asthma Action Plan/Medication Form, Dental Health Form

2. Medication requirements for 2022-2023 School Year:

All medications at school require an authorization form to be completed by a healthcare provider and parent/guardian. This pertains to all prescription, over the counter and emergency medications kept in the health room or self-carried by students. Links to these forms are contained in section 1, above. Parents/guardians are requested to call the health room prior to dropping off medications and forms so we can arrange to meet you.

3. Immunization Requirements for 2022-2023 School Year:

All students must have up-to-date immunization records prior to the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Parents should contact their doctor to make sure their child is properly immunized and submit a copy of the documentation to the Health Room at your child’s school as soon as possible, but no later than Monday, August 29, 2022, the first day of the 2022-23 school year.

Immunizations for students new to MCPS and children in Kindergarten through Grade 12, are available Monday through Friday, by appointment, at locations in Rockville and Germantown.

4. Asthma & Allergies: Please complete and submit a Student Asthma Management Plan (SAMP) and Allergy Form if your child has asthma and/or allergies. For medications at school relating to Asthma and Allergy management, please refer to sections 1 and 2 above for forms and medication requirements.

Home-School Communication

Effective home/school communication is important to us at Quince Orchard High School. Our entire staff is available to help you with your questions and concerns. The main school number is 240-740-3600. A more complete list of staff email information is published in the student handbook and on our website. We ask that you give us at least 24 hours to respond to any requests or concerns. Please do not hesitate to call or make an appointment. Our website, www.qohs.org, is another excellent source of information about school events with which we hope you will become familiar.

Lunch Process and Norms

Students and staff will collaborate on norms for support during lunch in classrooms. Lunch and Learn is a best practice and will be a collaborative process with teachers and students. Students must have permission from the teacher to eat in a classroom.

Students will have the opportunity to eat outside in the following areas:

  • Two tennis courts closest to the building

  • Basketball courts

  • In the front of main entrance

Students will have the opportunity to eat their lunch in the cafeteria, media center, and in the hallways on one side of the hall.

Students are expected to showcase Cougar Pride at all times by cleaning up their area after they finish eating and place their trash in trash cans.

Additionally, QO is one of many schools in Montgomery County that have some form of open lunch. Students in 11th and 12th grade may leave school grounds during lunch provided they adhere to our QO lunch norms which include showing their school issued ID to leave campus. This is a change from the 2021-2022 school year.

Our purpose is to inform and explain these norms so open lunch will be a positive and safe experience for everyone: students, staff, parents, merchants, and the community. Always remember, open lunch is a privilege, not a right. It will be taken away from students who do not adhere to norms or showcase Cougar Pride. Students who have been assigned lunch detention are to remain on campus. Parents or Guardians may rescind their child’s open lunch privilege. However, remaining on campus is the responsibility of the student just as attending class is the responsibility of the student. If the student is found off campus, parents will be notified and consequences will be applied.

11th and 12th grade students leaving the QO campus during open lunch are expected to:

  • Always showcase Cougar Pride and know that they represent QO in all settings

  • Leave school grounds in a safe way utilizing the crosswalks. Safety is a priority and we can't control traffic but the crosswalks are there to support a safe transition.

  • Show their student ID when leaving campus.

  • Return to school prior to the start of 6th period (or at the end of the lunch block when schedules are changed) and must be in their next class on time

  • Remain away from cars and do not enter cars. (Students cannot drive off campus)

We have a number of supports available for students during lunch, these are just a few examples:

  • Student Support – Academic help is available from teachers, parents, business partners or members of the many different Honor Societies.

  • Teacher Support- As discussed and coordinated with teachers.

  • College and Career Center – Take advantage of the many resources available: college catalogs, career information, computer search programs for college admission and financial aid, etc.

  • Counseling Services – All counselors are on duty throughout the lunch period and are available without an appointment on a first come, first-served basis.

  • Clubs and Organizations – Many clubs and organizations meet during lunch. Pay attention to announcements for meeting times and room locations.

  • College Seminars – Often there are presentations from colleges during lunch.

  • Media Center – Open during lunch unless otherwise noted

• Go to www.myschoolbucks.com and click on "Sign up today!" to set-up a lunch account for your student.

Also new this year, students will be able to scan their current year ID card or use the pin-pad to enter their ID # to access the funds added to their account at www.myschoolbucks.com.

MyMCPS Classroom

In addition, as a school, we will be utilizing MyMCPS classroom to help keep us organized. There is a QO classroom available to all students, staff and parents, with a master school calendar that can be added to other digital calendars. Teachers will also be using each of their classroom calendars to note due dates and deadlines for all assignments. Students can also add notes to their own calendars, which allows them to be able to see personal, class and school events and deadlines in one place. This also allows parents to see all student assignments and events in one place. We are anticipating that many students will choose to use MyMCPS classroom as their digital agenda book, so we encourage both students and parents to download the Canvas Student and Canvas Parent apps to be able to access this information easily on their phones. Parking Permits

Students requesting space on the Quince Orchard High School parking lot must apply for a permit. This permit is a privilege, not a right, and may be revoked for failure to adhere to school policies not limited to those shown below. YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED A PERMIT!

Permits are assigned on a semester basis.

All applications will be evaluated based on the following:

-classified as a 12th grader or 11th grader by MCPS criteria

-abbreviated schedules

-participation in-school supervised activities when activity buses are not available

-attendance at other schools requiring private transportation

-residing outside school or bus transportation boundaries

-unusual or imperative need

-satisfactory attendance, behavior, and academic records

-absence of financial obligations, including balances remaining on payment plans

-clear of any obligations

Students, upon satisfying the above criteria, may submit this google form to apply for a permit. Applications will be accepted from Monday, August 8th to Friday, September 2nd. We will send an email to your mcpsmd.net email account letting you know the status of your application by Friday, September 9th. If you receive a permit, you will have to pay $37.50 for your spot on SCO. The link to pay for your permit on OSP will be included in that email. To get your permit tag, you will bring proof of payment with you to Mr. Rabberman's Office (Room 255) during Lunch the week of September 12th.

Students will be able to start parking in their spots when they receive their permit tag. Students without a parking permit will not be able to park on campus.

Parking permits must be displayed in the vehicle on the rear view mirror with the number facing out. Permits are non-transferable and will be revoked if used by vehicles other than the registered student. Permit holders are expected to observe the following regulations, which will be strictly enforced. (Note that Quince Orchard High School cannot revoke any ticket issued by the Montgomery County Police for parking or traffic violations.) Activities listed below are prohibited, and violations will result in temporary or permanent loss of the parking permit:

1. Exceeding reasonable speeds or otherwise driving recklessly.

2. Leaving school grounds without permission and not signing out/in the attendance office.

3. Unauthorized transporting other students off school grounds during the school day.

4. Parking in spaces designated for staff, visitors, or marked as reserved.

5. Parking a vehicle without a current parking sticker.

6. Parking anywhere on school grounds not designated as a student parking space.

7. Parking in a designated handicapped parking spot without a handicapped permit.

8. Littering.

9. Violations of the school discipline policy.

10. Parking in the bus lane.

Restorative Justice

During the upcoming 22-23 school year, we will continue Restorative Justice or RJ efforts at Quince Orchard. To quickly review, RJ is a mindset shift that requires a focus on relationships, collaboration, and community building amongst students, staff, and families. It includes processes for staff and students to help prevent harm and resolve conflict when it occurs. Cougar Excellence is based in Restorative Justice Tenets as demonstrated by:

  • Respect for self and others.
  • Preparing for my part in the teaching and learning process.
  • Seeking to correct any harm that I have caused others in the QOHS community.
  • Seeking peaceful ways of resolving conflict.
  • Reflecting on ways that race and bias impact the teaching-learning and well-being of the QOHS community.
  • Actively eliminating the ways, things, and behaviors, rooted in race and bias that negatively impact those in the QOHS community.

Specifically, this school year our continued work will include:

  • Conducting student surveys to evaluate how QO students are feeling in the teaching-learning environment at school as a means of continuously improving relationships with our students.
  • Continuing staff training on best practices designed to address student well-being, problem-solving, and building relationships between students and staff.
  • Engaging students and staff in reflection and resolution activities before, during, and/or after any situations.
  • Ensuring that RJ occurs seamlessly with other MCPS initiatives to provide an emotionally, psychologically, anti-bias/anti-racist, safe, learning environment for ALL QO students.

School Hours and Schedules

Our regular school day is 7:45 am - 2:30 pm, with 7 instructional periods and a period for lunch. We are going to continue with Cougars Connect as our advisory period on Thursdays. Cougars Connect will occur within the school day between 3rd and 4th periods. The first two days of school August 29 and 30th, will be on a modified block to provide opportunities for students and staff to create our learning community grounded in shared values and norms. We believe that taking the time to foster relationships and build a sense of community is important as we create our new normal. You can view our complete bell schedule here.

School Drop-Off Procedures

There are three areas available for student drop-off in the morning at Quince Orchard High School. Two of these are in the upper parking lot and one is in the lower parking lot. All of our options are outlined below and highlighted in the maps. Please use ONLY one of these designated areas to drop-off your students in the morning. These areas have been designated as drop-off areas to allow for the safety of students, staff, and drivers while continuing a steady flow of traffic.

Upper Parking Lot Option #1 (RED Option) – Entering campus from Darnestown Road (Rte. 28)

  • Enter at the top of the parking lot near the Tennis Courts

  • Continue straight towards the school (following the Tennis Courts)

  • Drop-off your student at the corner of the school

  • Turn LEFT and

    • proceed out to Quince Orchard Road (right turn only) or turn

    • turn LEFT to return to Darnestown Road (left or right turn allowed at the light)

Upper Parking Lot Option #2 (BLUE Option) – Entering campus from Quince Orchard Road (Rte. 124)

  • Entering between the small staff lot and the main staff/student lot

  • Continue until you reach the first entrance to the main staff/student lot (on the right)

  • Drop-off your student along these islands

  • Turn RIGHT and proceed out to Darnestown Road (left or right turn allowed at the light)

Lower Parking Lot Option(GREEN Option) – Entering campus through the end of the bus loop from Quince Orchard Road (Rte. 124)

  • Be aware of students crossing from the sidewalks to the school and buses trying to exit the bus loop

  • Continue down the hill, stopping at the stop sign

  • Continue just past the Cougar Cubs playground and stop before the Handicapped parking spaces

  • Drop-Off your student at the sidewalk leading to the entrance where the Cougar Wing meets the main portion of the school

  • Turn LEFT to loop around the first row of staff parking in the parking lot

  • Continue to the end of that row and turn LEFT

  • After stopping at the stop sign, turn RIGHT to drive up the hill

  • Stop at the stop sign at the top of the hill and then proceed to the next stop sign which brings you back to Quince Orchard Road (left or right turn allowed at the light)

Student Emergency Information - Please Review & Update!

Student Emergency Information should be updated through ParentVUE. Each year parents/guardians are required to complete the Annual Verification of Information through the Online Registration portal (in the right corner of your ParentVUE home screen). We highly recommend that you complete this as soon as possible. It is critically important that we have accurate parent contact information on file with the school and system as soon as possible.

If a parent does not wish to have his/her child’s name made available to military recruiters and/or does not wish to have their child’s directory information included in the student directory, they should complete the “Directory Information Withholding” portion of the ParentVUE annual verification of information online registration. You may also complete MCPS form 281-13 - Annual Notice for Directory Information and Student Privacy. The form must be returned to the school by September 12, 2022.

Testing Accommodations for the College Board Tests (AP, SAT, PSAT)

In order to receive accommodations on these tests, a student must request the accommodations by submitting a Student Eligibility Form. The form must be completed by both parents and school officials and then mailed to the College Board at least seven weeks in advance of the student taking the first test.

The criteria established by the College Board for granting testing accommodations differs

significantly from those used by Montgomery County Public Schools. Students who have an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or a 504 Plan are not guaranteed that the College Board will provide accommodations. The College Board requires current neuropsychological testing (within the past three years) which documents the specific need for each requested accommodation. Please contact Mr. Douglas Rivera in the Counseling Office (240-740-3620) in order to obtain the forms and to ask questions about this process.
