New Year, New Start

It's been a fantastic start to the New Year! Planning for professional development, PLCs and collaborative inquiries are underway. Our first Model Schools for Inner Cities Leading Change Series entitled "Leading Collaborative Inquiry as a Professional Learning Structure" was postponed. This session will now be held on Wednesday February 24, 2016 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. A light breakfast will be served at 8:00 am. The Learning Classroom Teacher (LCT) is encouraged to attend. Please use code 354 for release.

The A2 CPAC STEM parent workshop was well attended! Parents engaged in a STEM activity and left with a better understanding of the "what" and "why" of STEM pedagogy, as well as ways to support STEM learning at home.

MSIC EdAppHack

Our MSIC EdAppHack initiative is underway! After an after school Adobe Connect session providing an overview of this initiative and an Xcode, coding 101, session at Fairmeadow with Steve Hayman from Apple Canada, teachers are making plans to begin preparing their students for the classroom and cluster level hackathons. Teachers are asked to visit the MSIC EdAppHack Google Classroom for links, resources and to connect with other teachers involved in the project. Co-teaching dates have been scheduled and I look forward to supporting you with this initiative in your respective schools. Document your journey by taking pictures and sending tweets on Twitter using the hashtag #MSICEdAppHack!

After School Professional Learning Sessions

The Model Schools for Inner Cities After School Sessions are back!

On January 11, 2016 a central email was sent out to all MSIC administrators with the flyer containing the hyperlinks to register on Key to Learn for Literacy, Numeracy, iPad and STEM after school sessions. If you are interested in getting the flyer sent to you directly again, or if you did not receive it, it was included, as an attachment, from the email which you accessed this newsletter.
