Looping and Blends

This year we have several teachers moving up a grade level. Many are "looping" or moving up with the same group of students, allowing them to pick up the school year right where they left off last spring. In looping scenarios, connections are already made between teacher, student and family and routines are established allowing the class to accelerate learning early on. There are many benefits to this model and we are taking advantage of it where we can this school year. Please note that not all of our teachers are moving up and not all are looping.

We also have a 4/5 blended classroom this school year, due to larger numbers of students in fourth and fifth grade. Mrs. Godsey will be teaching this class and will have several of her fourth graders again similar to the looping scenario above. All students in this class will receive grade level standards instruction and this class will have a smaller number of students. The fifth graders in this blended class will have the added benefit of a very small class size for math instruction.

Welcome Back Conferences: 1st - 6th

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, September 7th and 8th we will be hosting Welcome Back Conferences. These meetings include the teacher, parents and student and are a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn the best ways to communicate and gather important information for both parents and teachers. We will be sending home teacher assignment postcards this week with a link included where you can sign up for these conferences.

Conferences are scheduled for 20 minutes and will be Google Meet or phone. Our team will assume phone unless you email or call to set up a Google Meet. We will have day and evening times available on Tuesday and day times available on Wednesday.

Kinder Connection

On the first day of school, we encourage our kindergarten families that are dropping off to come at the end of drop off time, at 7:45 am, to allow for additional time to help your child out of the car. After dropping off, we welcome you to a meet and greet with other kindergarten parents under our covered area at the back of the school until 8:15. This will give you an opportunity to meet and connect with other parents and learn about our Booster Club.

Bus Information

Kindergarten and first grade students that live in our bus zone are being mailed bus number, route and stop information directly from our transportation department.

You can look up bussing information using the myBus website linked below.

We will be using colored zip-ties on backpacks that correspond to your child's bus color (route) or to indicate that they are being picked up. Please leave these on your child's backpack.

Due to capacity restrictions and cleaning schedules, there will be no bus passes this school year.

Meals

For the 2021-2022 school year, all students will have access to free breakfast and lunch. Each child will have a meal card that they will carry through the meal line and scan after picking up their meal. We will only be charging for a la carte items (milk).

Due to frequent changes in supply, our menu is subject to change. You can view the weekly planned menu here: https://family.titank12.com/menu/ERRCAH?lang=English

Google Classroom & Chromebooks

This year all students will have a new chromebook checked out to them at the start of the school year. 3rd - 6th grade students will be taking these home daily. Kindergarten - 2nd grade students will be learning how to use their chromebooks at school and working up to taking theirs home.

Google classrooms will be set up for each classroom and students will continue to have assignments to complete in this platform. It is important for students to learn these technology skills, however Google Classroom will not be our primary source of teaching in the building.

School Supplies - We Need Your Help!

We are asking for your help with school supplies prior to the first day of school.

For K - 2 families, please unpackage individual items (scissors, pencils, gluesticks, etc.) and mark them with your child's name in sharpie if you can. You can drop these off in a large bag marked with your child's name on September 7th or 8th from 8:00 -3:00 outside our main doors.

For 3 - 6 families, please unpackage individual items, mark with your child's name and send them to school on the first day.

Thank you!

School Supplies

Our district school supply list has been updated and is linked below. Our only ask is that you consider a pencil box as a substitute for a pencil pouch. We have learned that most pouches do not hold up well in the classroom. This year we will begin with individual supplies - we will not be sharing or using community supplies.

Anything beyond this list will be covered by our building funds. If you are not able to purchase these items we will provide them and if you email Mrs. Lentz prior to the first day of school, these items will be ready for your child the first day of school.
