Facts
- The town Jamestown was founded in 1607 and was the first successful permanent English settlement in what would become the United States.
- The early years of the town was rough cause lack of food because they never planned on having to grow all their food which caused some people to resort to cannibalism during the winter of 1609-1610.
- The king of England gave James I his blessing for the settlement and James River to be named in his honor and it actually financed and run by the Virginia Company.
