50% Tax Credit Scholarship Update
End of Year Giving
Tax Credits Projected to RUN OUT Before Year End
Traders Point has raised $202,475 toward scholarship this year through the Scholarships for Education Choice opportunity. Donors who have given to this fund have already secured their 50% state tax credit. For those still interested in giving, Sagamore Institute, our Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), anticipates that the remainder of credits will likely run out before the end of December.
Therefore, if you are still interested in contributing to the SGO and receiving the 50% tax credit, we recommend you do so as soon as you are able. If you are considering giving stocks or non-cash assets, you will need to begin that process and have your broker initiate the gift this week.
What is the SGO?
Three years ago, Traders Point established a scholarship fund through Sagamore Institute called the SGO. This is a special scholarship that helps qualifying families better afford to send their students to the school of their choice.
Once the SGO Scholarships have been awarded to our qualifying students, we are able to identify our need for the year. Then Traders Point works to raise the needed funds through donations, and Indiana assists by providing a SIGNIFICANT INCENTIVE to our donors for supporting our SGO fund.
How it Works
The program provides a 50% STATE TAX CREDIT to YOU on your donation amount. In addition, the donation is eligible for a federal deduction if you itemize. It enables you to give a substantial gift to the school, while also providing benefit regarding your tax liability. For a better idea of the potential savings and impact, see the chart below representing a $1,000 gift.
