Lion's Mane

Your home for MHS news & events. Volume 5

A rough week, but we made it.

This week started with some serious issues regarding student behavior and ended with the Lion Nation rallying behind one of their own. This past Tuesday, we had 3 students sent to a local hospital due to ingesting an unknown drug. Thanks to the quick thinking of several teachers, the SROs, Nurses, and Assistant Principals, we were able to quickly get a handle on the situation. In the midst of making sure parents were notified of the situation, I failed to make sure our staff was notified. Please accept my apologies and see the link below to read what was communicated to parents. I will do a better job of keeping you "in the know" after incidents such as this.

On another note, thank you to all of those who were able to contribute to taking care of Mr. Bennett. His time of need proved that MHS is a special place where we value our coworkers as humans above all else. Thank you Lion Nation for your generosity.

UIL Grade Check

Many of you are aware of the UIL grade check guidelines. As a reminder for summative grades given this week, please allow students enough time for a retesting opportunity. Any failing grade as of Friday, regardless of the student possibly taking a retest the following week, will impact eligibility. UIL rules trump our local policy, there is no grace period. Please let me know if you have questions.

Leadership Quote of the Week....

If you want to change the world, don’t back down from the sharks.
