As the weather gets warmer, we anticipate a change in student attire. Staff will be addressing dress code violations with students as they arise. Please help us from home by reviewing the Dress Code expectations on the district website.
Students will be asked to remove, cover up or call home for a change of attire depending on the violation.
MARCH READ-A-THON
Support the Novi Meadows PTO, students, and staff, by participating in the Read-a-thon. Your contribution helps us to purchase materials for Classroom Enrichment, provide virtual or in-person Assemblies and Author Visits, fund Teacher Appreciation events, provide Community Outreach, host Family Nights, and much more. We only have 2 fundraisers each school year, and we are hoping to reach $15,000 this month. We are only 1/2 of the way to this goal and need your support! For more information on PTO activities and how we support Novi Meadows, join our PTO Facebook group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/438604046775892
You can activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/bNCJYv/1 and following the simple instructions.
Students will earn entries into a raffle based on donations and minutes read during the month. Drawings will include gift cards to local businesses, books, games, squishmallows and more! And, the 5th and 6th grade classes that raise the most money and read the most minutes will receive a pizza party in April.
The current leaderboard is:
Class with the Most Minutes Read
Mr. Payne (5th)
Mrs. Westra (6th)
Class with the Most Donations Collected
Mrs. Osborne (5th)
Mrs. Vollmer (6th)
INTRAMURAL SPORTS MONDAYS AFTER SCHOOL
Intramurals will run from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. directly after school on Mondays.
Intramurals are after-school sports for Novi Meadows 5th and 6th graders. Students compete against each other in a sport. There are no established teams, but rather the teams are determined at each session. We stress fair play, good sportsmanship, and teamwork...while having fun learning and playing games with our friends. Students should have appropriate shoes in order to participate.
Please see the attached documents for our FAQ and schedule.
COUNSELORS CORNER
Happy Ramadan!
Ramadan is right around the corner for our Muslim friends at Novi Meadows. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is a month of fasting, prayer, giving, and self-evaluation observed by Muslims. Muslims don’t eat or drink anything during the hours of daylight during Ramadan. This is called fasting.
Ramadan begins on April 2nd this year so some students may be fasting during school hours. If your family observes Ramadan and your child is uncomfortable staying in the cafeteria, please reach out to your child’s counselor and we can meet with them to discuss an alternative space.

MEADOWS MUSIC DEPARTMENT T-SHIRTS
With spring concerts coming up, whether in person or virtual, the music teachers at Meadows (myself, Ms. Rais and Mr. Cooper) have decided to go with a more casual approach for attire. In order to unify the look on stage, we are offering Meadows Music Department t-shirts in kelly green for students to purchase for $7.95 plus shipping.
You DO NOT have to purchase this shirt- if you don't want to buy it, you can just wear any green t-shirt to the concert so that you blend into the sea of green. :)
Attached is a note with directions on how to order. One word of caution- please, please check your sizes carefully. We often have parents order an ADULT medium or large with they wanted a YOUTH medium or large, and the shirts are not returnable or refundable.
Here is the link to purchase. Our cart will be open until March 25th (before spring break). You will get your shirt approx. 2 weeks after the cart closes, delivered to your home.

ABSENT HOMEWORK
Novi Meadows Parents:
When students are absent, teachers will do their best to fill them in on the work they miss. Teachers utilize a variety of tools to keep students up to date on work (Schoology, Google Classroom, on-line planners, etc.). It is not feasible to have absent students Zoom into classes that are happening at school. In addition, teachers are not able to privately Zoom with students who are absent to reteach the lessons. Teachers will provide the work that can be replicated to students upon their return. It is not always possible to recreate classroom discussion or activities
THIS WEEKS V.I.P.
KEEPING A FOCUS ON RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY AND A SENSE OF COMMUNITY
We are trying to focus on the positive things our 6th grade students are doing here at Novi Meadows.
When we see students making responsible choices, doing the right thing, and giving back to their school and peers, we pass out a VIP ticket to share our appreciation.
All VIP tickets go in a weekly drawing for an opportunity to eat lunch in the VIP Cafe.
Once a week, a VIP winner is announced and that student’s entire lunch table gets to eat in the VIP Cafe for a day.
We hope our students are enjoying this as much as we are! We are so proud of these students and the positive impact they are making at Novi Meadows.
To the left is this weeks winner Evelyn Earl. Congratulations, Evelyn!
