New EUSD Teacher Support Program
What to expect in your first year of NETs
Welcome to Escondido Union School District - We are so excited you joined our team!
NETs - A Customized Support Program for New Teachers Clearing Their Credentials
To qualify for our program, you must have a preliminary (multiple subject, single subject or education specialist) credential. Our program is accredited by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. There is no fee to participate in our program!
Here's What Our Teachers are Saying About Our Program
I see this program as a job embedded professional development program because my mentor was a fountain of knowledge and very supportive. I was able to be honest and get true help I needed, even in the moment. I was able to have someone to verbally reflect on my practice through observations and even just through recounting the lesson with my support provider. It is a great program that really supports new teachers. - Alyssa Carlson 2nd Year Teacher
Such an amazing program. I have grown so much because of how well my support provider and I have worked together. I feel extremely confident going into my second year teaching and having more tools in my tool belt than ever before. I am pleased that I have been able to reach out to so many effective leaders that have taken time to support me in my first year in this profession.- Sydney Montjoy - Middle School 1st Year Teacher
I thoroughly enjoyed the rigor that NETS provided for my professional growth. I am forever grateful for the resources provided to myself and more importantly my students! I am a stronger, more well rounded teacher because of the NETS program. Thank you! - Jill James Education Specialist 2nd Year Teacher
Thank you so much for all that you do!! Without this program, I would not have been where I am today. Thank you so much for everything. There are no words to describe what this program has done for my teaching career. Brenda Langston- PE 2nd Year Teacher
I look at the program as a way to help us all grow as professionals because we are constantly learning from our peers, support providers and various members in the district brought in to support us. I know the teacher retention rate is low and many teachers switch careers early on. I look at this program as a way to prevent that through overwhelming support from many different people - Kristen Frias - Middle School 1st Year Teacher
Thank you for everything!! I got a lot out of this program and it gave me the skills that I will carry on with for the rest of my career - Sara Kuphal- Education Specialist 2nd Year Teacher.

You will begin your first trimester and learn more about how to develop your Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) . Your ILP will be developed before 60 days of your enrollment in the program. Your support provider will observe you based upon an area of focus you have determined specific to your reflections as you review the California Standards for the Teaching Profession.
November/December: You will be attending a variety of professional development workshops. Many will be self selected based on your reflections. Others are specifically planned to support you in planning and implementing the activities that assist you in focusing on district goals. Your support provider will be visiting your classroom often. You will also be invited to attend optional "collaborative support sessions" throughout the entire year. These sessions provide a quiet place to collaborate with your peers and your support provider as you share ideas for your job individualized and embedded experiences.
December/January: Your support provider will meet with you regularly and guide you through the CYCLE OF INQUIRY (COI) process in order for this experience to be successful and meaningful for you. You will also have the opportunity share your reflections with your principal during a "triad" meeting around this time of year. Your principal will support your inquiry work by recommending resources and materials that support your plan.
January/April: You will continue with the planning and implementation of your ILP and reflections. Your support provider will observe a lesson that relates to your reflections. You will be creating and analyzing student work samples and learning more about formative and summative assessments. You will also have the opportunity to attend various workshops that have been designed based upon your feedback.
May: It's Celebration Time! You will complete a final reflection. This reflection takes a look at your progress in relation to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. You will have an opportunity to share your inquiry project/reflections with various administrators and community members at our end of the year "Colloquium" scheduled for May 15, 2019.
