Principal's Corner

Welcome Back

Welcome to our first edition of Sussex Avenue News That You Can Use!

We are excited to share this weekly newsletter with you as we continue to build our home-school connection. We will be sharing the newsletter each week. You can find it on the website and as a blast on Constant Contact. I am working on publishing it in Spanish as well. Stay tuned!

Week of September 4- September 7

  • September 4th, 12:30-1:30 Open House for 3rd graders and new families
  • September 5th, 5:00-6:00, Popsicles with the Principal on the playground @ Sussex. You'll find me in the gazebo!
  • Thursday 9/6 is the First Day of School. It is an A day.
  • Please make sure your child knows which bus they are going home on. It may be helpful to put this information in your child's backpack so they can look at it if necessary as we dismiss.

Mr. Edilson, Ms. Maria, and Ms. Digna, and Ms. Johnson worked tirelessly all summer to make Sussex shine! Their dedication to the Sussex Avenue School community is to be commended. Each member of the team worked very hard to get the school ready for staff and students to return. As if this task isn't challenging enough, they have been super supportive in showing me the ropes. I am honored to recognize them as the first Bravo's of the 2018-2019 school year.

Welcome to New Staff

Please help me welcome the following new staff members to the Sussex Avenue School family:

Enriching our youngster's schooling experience takes many hands and the HSA is always looking for volunteers. There are a variety of ways that you can help out including but not limited to chair a committee, donate supplies, translate documents, organize drives, attend events, along with many others. If you have a special talent, let us know! We are always looking for talented, compassionate, and hardworking individuals to get involved!

Please contact Kristin Deleppo and Kathleen Kalahar to discuss how you can help.

Ms. Kelly is looking for cardboard boxes! If you have any moving boxes, large appliance boxes, etc, please consider donating them. She is developing a real world experience in which the students can apply their media skills. Thank you!
