New Cougars to Join Our Ranks
Mrs. Paynter - Work-based Learning Coordinator
Hello Clinton Cougar families! I would like to introduce myself as Karli Paynter, the new Work-based Learning Coordinator at Clinton High School. I live in Shopiere with my husband, our two daughters (ages 5 and 7), our black-lab, Roscoe, and our cat, Ariel.
This is my 8th year working in education with students and staff. Some of you may recognize me from having worked in the middle school front office a few years ago. For the past three years, I have worked in Workforce Development where I acquired a wealth of knowledge which ultimately led me to this incredible opportunity to work with your students again. I am so excited to be back in the Clinton Community School District and I look forward to helping your student(s) grow and achieve their goals. Go Cougars!

Message from Dr. Brewer: CCSD Emergency Procedures
September 11, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The 2020-2021 school year is off to a great start despite operating during a pandemic and we thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
It's an unfortunate reality in today's educational environment that we need to be prepared for worst-case scenarios. We want you to be aware that the Clinton Community School District has made many preparations to deal effectively with emergency situations that could occur in or around the school while your child is arriving to school, in class, or leaving school. While we hope that a natural disaster or other serious incident never occurs, our goal is to be prepared for any potential emergency. It will always be our first priority to protect all students, staff, and visitors from harm.
In order for our crisis response plan to be effective, we depend on the cooperation and assistance of many people, such as the police, fire, and EMS departments, staff, students, families and community members. We feel we must educate all stakeholders, so we have implemented a plan which includes drills. Please do not be alarmed by this precautionary action. These drills, which will occur on a periodic basis throughout the year, will cover a variety of circumstances. In addition to practicing the drills, we will also be discussing with the students the appropriate actions to take during a number of emergencies. These drills and accompanying discussions are designed to prepare your child to act quickly and to minimize your child's fear, should an emergency occur.
Your cooperation as parents/guardians is vital to helping us protect the safety and welfare of all our students, staff, and visitors. Therefore, we ask parents/guardians to observe the following procedures related to school crises:
Talk to your student and emphasize how important it is for them to follow instructions from their teachers, school officials, and emergency responders during any school emergency.
Carefully read all printed information you receive from the school. You may receive updates about our safety procedures from time to time.
During an emergency, please do not telephone the school. We understand and respect your concern for your child, yet it is essential that the telephone system be available for emergency communications.
Our parent notification system will send information of the incident and instructions about where to go to meet your child.
Do not come to the school unless instructed to do so. The building will be secured and entry will not be allowed. We realize how difficult it will be for you to keep your distance from the school, but this will be crucial in keeping the surrounding streets and parking lot clear for emergency vehicles. Parents' vehicles at or near the school could impede medical aid responders from arriving to or departing from the school with your children or other victims. Emergency responders might also be forced to divert their attention from the critical crisis response in order to address or protect parents. Parents' presence at the scene of the crisis could actually endanger not only themselves, but students and staff members as well. In the event of a severe school crisis, you will be instructed to report to a designated off-campus location where you will be met by a school representative to provide you with up-to-date crisis information, and where you may also be reunited with your child if the school is evacuated. You will be notified of this location via media bulletins and/or one of the other message options listed above.
We are proud that Clinton Community School District is a safe school district, and we are doing everything possible to keep it that way. We appreciate your cooperation and support. If you have any questions about this letter or any other aspect of our school safety procedures, please contact any building administrator and/or the Buildings and Grounds Department at 608.676.5482.
Sincerely,
Jim Brewer, District Administrator

Courtyard Cleanup
The CHS Courtyard is a beautiful area behind the high school that needs some TLC so it can be better maintained in the future and utilized more often by students and staff! We need your help to get there!
On Saturday, September 19th we will meet by the CHS Greenhouse/Ag. Shop at 8am. Please bring work gloves! Most of what we will be doing during this work time is cleaning out weeds and excessive wildflowers. The Clinton FFA will provide lunch for those that help. If you are interested in taking home any seeds from the many wildflowers (black eyed susans, cone flowers, etc.) envelopes will be provided! Students can earn community service hours for their help at this event! Proper COVID safety precautions will be in place including social distancing and mask wearing when necessary.
Please let Kelsey Kueter or Maureen Howe know if you can help so we can plan accordingly for supplies and food! Thank you!
There is a Facebook event created on the Clinton FFA page if you could help us out by sharing this event!
