Science Infographics to Inform Voters

At Foothill High School, Chemistry teacher Mrs. Ivory has her students create infographics that will help inform voters as they make decisions on a bill that intends to roll back regulations designed to limit the total amount of CO2 produced on a daily basis all throughout the country. The instructions to the assignment can be found on this Google Slides presentation.

Students are asked to work in pairs and design the infographic in Google Drawings. They represent the data visually and provide information to help the voters clearly understand how the following topics are related to the Earth’s coral reefs. Students are to somehow tie in the relationship between Henry’s Law and concentration, particle collision theory, and Le Chatlier’s Principle for equilibrium systems.

Mrs. Ivory stated: “This is a great way for my students to use everything that they’ve learned in this unit to produce a relevant piece to inform the people about the effects of public policy on the environment, backed by proven scientific principles.” She said that the students had a great time putting this together, and felt like they were able to apply what they’ve learned in a real world setting.
