Message to Parents from Dr. Jeanette Ball
Dear Judson ISD Families,
I can’t believe it is already December. It feels like just yesterday we were announcing our Return to Lean plans. I hope you all enjoyed a peaceful and refreshing Thanksgiving break. I sincerely appreciate all the families who participated in safer Thanksgiving celebrations this year; we will need to keep that up as the December holidays approach. Please continue to take care of yourselves and keep up the great work!
STAAR EOC Testing for High School Students
Beginning Tuesday, December 8, high school students enrolled in English I, English II, Algebra, Biology, and US History will take STAAR exams as part of their graduation requirements. TEA requires that all students attend school in person for these test administrations, even if a student is a remote virtual learner.

There is a great need for additional reliable substitute teachers to help in classrooms where our teachers are at home teaching remotely. If you or someone you know is willing and available to help as a substitute teacher, visit our WEBSITE to complete the application. Other critical need areas include: Adventure Club Aides, Special Education Aides, and Custodians.
Please feel free to contact 210-945-5101 if you have questions.

Applicants for the position for Single Member District 4 must reside within District 4 and applicants for the position for District 7 At-Large must reside within the Judson School District.
Curbside Meal Service
The District has four locations where no cost curbside meals are available to students for pickup.
JISD will continue to serve curbside meals at the following locations from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday through Friday:
- Judson High School
- Wagner High School
- Spring Meadows Elementary
- Rolling Meadows Elementary
If these locations produce hardship for your family, please contact your campus and/or JISD Child Nutrition to inquire about alternative arrangements. This change aims to best utilize the resources available so the district can better address the shifting student needs developing at our schools. Our intent is that no student goes hungry, regardless if they are enrolled in virtual instruction or in-person.
UIL Area H 5A & 6A Marching Contest

Two 6A bands will be selected to move onto the State Marching Contest from Area H. This year will be the first Area 5A Champion named. Next year the 5A’s will qualify for the State marching contest.
Tickets for the event are $5.

Gifted & Talented Referral Window Open
Do you know a student who shows high achievement in areas such as intellectual, creative, or artistic capabilities, or in specific academic areas? If so, you may consider referring that student to the Judson ISD Gifted and Talented (GT) Program.
The gifted and talented referral window is open during the months of November and December.
Referrals can be submitted by a teacher, a parent, or any person that can provide information as to why a student should be considered for the Gifted and Talented Program. Referrals can be made online using the linked Google Form or a paper referral form in English or Spanish can be printed, completed, and submitted to the campus GT teacher (printed copies of forms can also be requested from the campus).
GT Testing begins in January. For more information about the GT Program, please contact your campus GT teacher or the Department of Advanced Academics at 210-945-5316.
Free/Reduced Lunch Applications: It Still Matters
The Judson ISD Child Nutrition Department wants you to know that even though all meals are no cost to students through the end of 2020, the Free/Reduced Price Meal applications are still critical…to you and your student because it’s about more than just food.
Did you know that this application also...
- Can provide discounted fees to register for AP tests (from $64 to $18)
- Help pay fees to participate in sports
- Can reduce costs of college applications (discounted or even no cost)
- Help you qualify for low-cost internet service
- Has a bearing on funding for school programs and services for students
The no-cost meal program will, at some point, end and we want to make sure that your child gets a nutritious meal without financial roadblocks. See if you qualify. Or, you can get going by filling out the Free/Reduced Meal application now.
These applications are accepted all year, but the earlier you apply, the sooner you can benefit from meals and discounts.
*Note: If your child attends a CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) designated school, you do not need to submit this application.
