Tech Tidbits: Turkey Edition
from your friendly elementary tech integrator
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
I'm thankful to work in such a supportive and caring district with teachers who value the power of teamwork and who learn continuously to be better for kids. Enjoy your time off with family and friends!

**Correction to News & Notes Fall 2014**
Last week my Elem. Tech News & Notes newsletter was sent home to parents. In this edition I highlighted the new content providers and provided information on how students could access the systems from home. I neglected to mention that if students visit the main IXL website, they will need to add @elanco behind their usernames in order to access. I will be sure to add this correction in my next edition, but in the meantime, feel free to direct any parent questions to me or provide them with this information. If students access IXL via our Symbaloo link directly, the @elanco is automatically added and they don't have to type it. Thanks to Heather Schrantz for notifying me of the error!

Flipping the "non-flippable" classrooms
The "flipped" classroom involves students consuming content via videos or readings outside of the classroom, thus allowing teachers to devote class time to meaningful 1:1, small group, and whole group dialogue and project-based work. But, it's not a particularly friendly model for elementary students, some of whom do not have access to online materials outside of the school day. This article provides insights into how we can still "flip" the traditional model of "Stand and deliver" to allow students to explore content individually and in small groups while teachers thoughtfully target instruction.
