October 12, 2017
I am looking forward to student conferences next week, including the opportunity to visit with our wonderful students and their families. Be sure to check out the Scholastic Book Fair as well.

A Note from Your School Psychologist
Second Step classroom lessons are starting at all of our elementary schools. These weekly lessons provide a foundation of being a learner, empathy, peer relationships and problem solving.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month! This nationwide campaign was started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Council to educate and raise awareness of bully prevention. We will extend our Second Step lessons this month to focus on a variety of activities to engage our students in conversations about definitions of bullying and strategies to support all students. Together, all the elementary schools will ask our students to sign a “Be a Kid to Stand Up to Bullying” pledge to culminate the month’s activities.
On October 25, all of the elementary schools will be celebrating Unity Day. We are asking all of our students and staff to wear an orange shirt to show that we are united for “kindness, acceptance, inclusion, and together against bullying”. Please see the attached flyer for more information: http://www.pacer.org/bullying/nbpm/unity-day.asp
Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information.

Send in your BOX TOPS!
BOX TOPS Needed!
Please put your child's name and teacher's name on the bag with box tops.
Please continue to clip Box Tops off your favorite products! Ten cents doesn't sound like much but they add up fast and help the PTO provide Enrichment opportunities for GCS students. If possible, ask other family members, co-workers and neighbors to collect them as well. This is a quick reminder that at the end of each month the classroom that has collected the most Box Tops gets a prize. See the below attachment for a list of products that have Box Tops on their labels.
