Mr. B's Short Week Bright Lights
Teachers learning more about being effective with children.
Parent Teacher Conferences are coming.
Hey everyone, you should place either Feb 4th or Feb 9th on your calendars to set up a conference with the child(ren)'s teacher(s). Dawn Baumgartner will be sending out sign-up schedules via Skyward for your convenience on Monday. We are hoping and expecting that you sign up to review progress to date and set up goals for the remainder of the year. Your participation is vital to the success fo your children.
Professional Development for our Teachers
I wanted to share with you that our teachers regularly attend and learn from workshops conducted in our school over the course of the school year. This coming Thursday afternoon, our teachers will be learning more about our literacy program and the Fountas and Pinnell method of assessing/scoring/interpreting the results from the children. There is plenty of sharing and dialogue. Our special educators will also be attending a session about our children with autism and strategies to work more effectively with them.
Big Night Next Week
Next Thursday, Jan. 28th, we put on our finest as we welcome new 4k and 5K families to our Parent Orientation Night held in our cafeteria at 6:30 PM. Our 4K and 5K teachers will join our speech and language teacher, Gayl Ward, our school nurse, After School reps, and the Dousman Transportation Company to share the good news about our school. We begin with tours of our school at 6:00PM. Please spread the word if you know of any families with little ones
Special Spellers
2 of our 4th graders will represent the Primary school in the all district spelling bee next week. Charlie Allen and Matthew Schmieding will be the two to compete. Caroline Webber will be our alternate. Congratulations to these students and all of the finalists. Our student audience performed well too.

Getting ready for the next word.
We studied and we are prepared.
Pizza!!!!! A new addition to our menu!
Our food service chef, John Xynos, has designed a new pizza for the kids to eat at lunch. This past Monday, John walked around the cafeteria with samples of the BBQ chicken pizza and the kids were generally excited about it. Below are photos that John shared with me so you can get an idea. This author enjoyed the sample he had.
Hmmmm, bacon and chicken!
Sliced and ready to eat!
Can you almost taste it?
