School District Wellness Policy Development and Implementation Training

Would your school district like assistance with your federally required Local Wellness Policy?

Creating Healthy Schools and Communities is here to provide technical, logistical and practical assistance for school districts.

We invite 3 to 5 representatives from your school district to attend our FREE training as we take a complete "nuts and bolts" look at what is needed for evaluation, development and implementation of your school district's wellness policy. In doing this, we will create a healthy environment in your school district for all.


With resources and technical assistance from us, and small changes within your school district, we can offer evidence based strategies and best practices to enhance the wellness in your school district.

Please register by April 6, 2016.

Certificate of completion will be given to each attendee.

Light breakfast and lunch will be served.

Who should attend from your school district?

For an effective and successful day, we request an administrator, Food Service Director and Athletic or Health Director be present. *Each group should include 3 to 5 persons from the following areas:


  • Superintendent
  • Food Service Director
  • Physical Education Teacher
  • Principal
  • Nurse
  • Board of Education Member
  • Health Teacher


*Each group is encouraged to include at least one person from the administrative level along with the Food Service Director and Athletic and or Health Director in order to choose the two (2) most beneficial free gifts. If all three individuals are not present, only one (1) gift can be awarded.


Substitute teacher fee coverage is available.

Who are we?

Creating Healthy Schools and Communities is a NYS Department of Health funded grant focused on the issue of childhood obesity through partnering with schools and their surrounding community. In the Capitol District, this work is done through a collaboration between St. Peter's Health Partners and Capital Roots. We help school districts through technical assistance by providing expertise and tools to bridge the gap in addressing the health needs that impact students’ academic success. We accomplish this through updating and tailoring district wide Wellness Policies to meet Federal and State regulations .
