4K -7th Grade Parent-Teacher Conference Sign-Up
Friday, February 14th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, unless you receive notification from the teacher or if otherwise stated below.
Note: No school for students Friday, Feb. 14th and Monday, Feb. 17th
Parent/Teacher Conference sign-up is done online through Skyward Family Access. Conferences are optional, but are available by parent or teacher request. You may start signing up on Monday, January 27th. Please see below for step by step instructions.
Online Scheduling: please follow these directions at your earliest convenience to schedule conferences.
- Login into Skyward Family Access – The Skyward Link can be found on the Lake Country School website.
- Using the tabbed headings on the left hand side of the screen, click on Teacher Conferences.
- Your student(s) will have a tab to the right of their name entitled All Conferences. Click on that tab.
- Next click Select a Time.
- Now you can view the open time slots the teacher has available. You may want to go back and view the open time slots for any of your other children to coordinate times. When you are ready to choose a time slot, click Select and then Save.
- You will receive a Teacher Conference Sign-up Confirmation email shortly after registering.
- If you need to change your time, you will now be able to click Unschedule inside the Teacher Conferences tab. Save and begin again. You can also include a note to your child’s teacher by clicking the Notes option on the right.
Please call Lisa Acton in the school office if you have questions.
4K: Times available are from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
5th thru 7th Grade: These are group conferences so when signing up use the grade level conference option instead of your homeroom teacher. Skyward only shows one of the homeroom teachers (not necessarily yours) attached to this option but all teachers will be meeting with you. You will be contacted by a teacher if a conference is being requested.
8th Grade: In lieu of conferences on February 14, eighth grade students will be presenting research-based projects to parents, fellow Lake Country School students, and community at a later date TBD. As we get closer to the presentation dates, you will receive an email with a flexible schedule and multiple presentation choices. Options will also be available if you are not able to attend. As always, feel free to contact teachers if you feel a conference is necessary.
NOTE: If a teacher is not listed that you would like to meet with, please email that teacher directly to see if they can set up a meeting with you at a different time.
Report cards will be available in Skyward Family Access Thursday, Jan. 23rd

Math Meet
The Math Meet provides an opportunity to challenge talented math students. The event, patterned after MathCounts, is sponsored by the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network. The one-day math meet seeks to do the following:
Stimulate interest in mathematics
Recognize exceptional mathematical talent
Provide a healthy academic environment
Support the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards in Mathematics as well as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Standards
Math meet team members earned a place on the team via their performance on a math-screening test, standardized math achievement tests (i.e. Measures of Academic Progress, Forward Exam, Aspire) and/or classroom-based math assessments (i.e. Math Olympiads).
Our students competed against teams with similar enrollment size from south central and south east Wisconsin on January 14 at UW-Whitewater.
Our fifth and sixth grade team earned 2nd place and our seventh and eighth grade team won 1st place at the Regional Math Meet!
Fifth & sixth grade team members include:Bryce Girard, Riley Kozik, Rylan Schulz, Samantha Wall, Serena Ball, Sophia Ball, Caden McLaughlin, and Will Schneidewent.
Seventh & eighth grade team members are:Jason Brammeier, Emery Cummins-Brown, Gavin Dai, Andrew Harshbarger, Carter Delaruelle, Wes Lindee, Ben Otte, and Max Venon
Individual recognition, based on student performance in the first four Math Meet events, was earned by:
★ fifth grader Samantha Wall-2nd place
★ seventh grader Jason Brammeier- 1st place
★ seventh grader Gavin Dai- 2nd place ★ eighth grader Ben Otte - 1st place
Both teams look forward to advancing to the Mega Math Meet in Madison at the end of May. Congratulations students on your fine problem solving efforts!

Open Enrollment for the 2020/2021 School Year
The inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend a public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside. The regular open enrollment application period for the 2020-21 school year begins on February 3, 2020, and ends at 4:00 pm on April 30, 2020. The best way to apply is online, the online application is available at https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment during the application period.
The Lake Country School District Board of Education will review enrollment numbers and approve the number of open seats for the 2020-2021 school year at the January board meeting.
Once a pupil is attending a nonresident school district under open enrollment, the pupil may continue to attend that district without re-application. Open enrolled students must re-apply to attend Arrowhead High School.

From The Health Room
Inclement Weather Procedure
Winter weather in Wisconsin has the potential for inclement weather that may impact and warrant the need to delay or close Lake Country School.
School closings are considered when there is a wind chill warning with wind chills maintaining a level of 35 degrees below zero or greater for an extended period of time, especially if the wind chill warning includes the times that students are traveling to and from school, or if road conditions due to snowfall or ice are unsafe for travel.
Collective decisions are made with our bus provider, other area Superintendents, law enforcement agencies and national weather service advisories. We look to make these decisions as timely as possible. When Arrowhead High School is closed, all of the K-8 feeder schools are closed as well.
If the decision is made to close schools, families will be notified via a phone call by 6:00 A.M. Please make sure your contact information is up to date by logging into to Skyward Family access and choosing Skylert in the left hand column. The information will also be posted to our website, Facebook page, and shared with local media.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Please know that every effort is made to use up-to-date information to make decisions. We appreciate your continued support.
Dress For The Weather
REMINDER: Stress the importance of not sharing hats as this is a sure way to spread lice if it is present. We do have extra hats in the health room if a student forgets one.
Volleyball Sign-Up
6TH-8TH GRADE BOYS AND GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
6th-8th grade boys and girls volleyball sign up is open. The season runs from March through early May 2020, and the fee is $70. Login to Skyward Family Access, click on Fee Management along the left side of the screen, and use the "Make a Payment" link to add Volleyball to your child's account. Proceed to pay the fee online or drop off a check in the office.
Yearbook Orders
Remember you are now able to order a yearbook through Skyward Family Access. Just go to Fee Management, Add A Fee and select yearbook. You can then go ahead and pay online using RevTrak or send payment to the school office. Checks can be made out to Lake Country School for $12.50 per yearbook. They books will be handed out at the end of the year.
Parking Lot Reminders
1. Cars are not allowed in the circle drive for drop off or pick up. This is for the buses only. This includes the outer, west side of the circle drive, as the buses are not able to get past these parked cars to exit. As we have done in the past, we will block off the Nagawicka entrance if this continues to be an issue.
2. Please follow the arrows in the parking lot. The lane closest to the outdoor classroom is the only southbound lane. This lane should be used for drop off and pick up as well as to enter the other two northbound lanes for parking and to exit.
3. No parking in the drop/pick up lane along the curb. This lane needs to keep moving. If you
are coming into the building please park in the parking lot.
4. Please yield to the buses. We need to keep them safe and on schedule. If they are waiting to enter off of Vettelson Road, please allow them to.
5. Students should not be in the parking lot unattended. If parents are in the pick up line students need to wait on the sidewalk. If you are parking, please escort you child back to the car rather than have them meet you at the car.
6. And as always - Be Kind, Be Safe and Do The Right Thing!
We are working on other options to make things run more smoothly, but in the meantime we appreciate your following these steps to ensure everyone's safety.
