Tilghman Tiger Talk
Principal's Update 2021
Week of February 15th-19th
Hello Tilghman Elementary Families,
Term 2 report cards were emailed Wednesday, Feb. 10th. If you did not receive your child's report card, please call the school office. Yesterday was an early dismissal for parent/teacher conferences. If you did not speak to your child's teacher and need to do so, please reach out via email to arrange a time to Zoom or call.
There will be NO school for students or staff on Monday, February 15th as we celebrate President's Day.
I'm excited to share that Tilghman Elementary School will be highlighted at this month's Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 17th. The work session begins at 5:00 and will be live streamed. You can find the link by going to the TCPS website, clicking on the Board tab at the top and then going to the Bd Meeting Agendas, Minutes, and Video option in the drop down menu.
We appreciate your continued support and flexibility! We continue to make the best choices for our students and to be #smallbutmighty.
Ms. Murdoch, Proud Principal
Mental Health Minute- Anxiety
Anxiety is our body’s natural response to stress, so it’s not uncommon to feel anxious at different times in our life. Starting something new or doing something scary can cause our palms to get sweaty, our heart to beat faster, and might even make us feel a little dizzy or give us an upset stomach. Here are some ways to help calm that anxious feeling:
1. Look at your thought patterns. Pay attention to your fears and ask yourself what makes you fearful. Is there anything you can do to feel a little more in control?
2. Practice deep breathing. Breathe in for 4 counts, hold it for 7, and then breathe out for 8 counts. Repeat this for 5 minutes.
3. Take a walk. Walking away from the situation for a few moments can help you clear your mind.
4. Write down your thoughts. Writing down what is making you feel anxious can help ease those feelings.
While anxiety is common, if you're having a hard time managing and coping with it, don't hesitate to reach out for some additional support.
Always remember that you can reach out for help or support! We are here to support you in anyway that we can and are always happy to brainstorm new ideas and ways to continue to support you and your family, especially when we can’t be together in person.
As a reminder, each Wednesday Ms. Baker and Ms. Charest are offering groups for each grade level as well as office hours.

TES Tremendous Tigers Award
Congratulations to Mrs. Mayhew
"Bev is an outstanding coworker. She has a wealth of knowledge that not only helps her students but all students. Bev's job has been especially challenging since she has had to navigate between fully virtual students and the hybrid/virtual students in addition to assessing and keeping up with all the constant changes in the schedules. This I'm sure has not been an easy task. Thank you Bev for all that you do. I am honored to have been able to work beside you for a lot of years."
