Attendance
I want to thank all the families and caregivers who are working hard to help their children engage in school every day. Our attendance rates continue to remain steady, but we need to continue to focus on making sure all of our students attend all of their classes every day.
If your child needs to be absent for the day or during a class, you must call the school to report the absence - just like when students were in the school building.
You can reach our attendance line at 508-620-4957 or our Main Office at 508-620-4956.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Our Children's Mental Health
Recognizing the impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on children’s mental health, the Office of the Child Advocate (OCA) joined forces with the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) and the Department of Mental Health (DMH) to launch HandholdMA.org, a new family-friendly website for parents and guardians of school-aged children who are concerned about their child’s mental health.
HandholdMA.org provides families with tips, tools, and resources designed to help them navigate their child’s mental health journey with confidence. The content, which is targeted to families with kids age 6-12 years, was developed by a team of mental health and child development experts as well as family and community partners. A creative team from IDEO Cambridge designed the user experience and branding.
The content on HandholdMA.org is organized in three main sections:
- Should I worry? This section helps parents/guardians explore if their child is just being a kid or if their behavior is something to worry about. Families can learn about signs to look for and get suggestions on what to do next.
- What can I do? These are tips, tools, and strategies that have worked for other families in the past and are things they can learn about or do from home.
- Who can help? The final section includes carefully selected community organizations and government resources to help families find the right mental health services.
HandholdMA.org was developed with input from individuals representing the diversity of Massachusetts’ communities, and is available in six languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Haitian Creole, and Vietnamese.

Massachusetts Eviction Diversion Initiative to Keep Households Safe
Massachusetts recently announced a new Eviction Diversion Initiative to help households as the eviction moratorium in Massachusetts expires. Part of our work is reaching out to networks across the Commonwealth to reach more residents with new and expanded resources, including rental assistance and legal resources.
We are asking the local public health network to help us in our effort to reach households early – before an eviction takes place – to provide funding and mediation tools to work with landlords. We’ve launched a new website that connects residents to their local Housing Consumer Education Center, answers frequently asked questions, and more at www.mass.gov/CovidHousingHelp
COVID-19: Getting Help with Housing Costs The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has resources available to help residents impacted by COVID-19 to cover rent and mortgage payments.
Residents can also call 2-1-1, which features a language line and trained staff.
Time is of the essence – there is funding available NOW and the earlier households apply for aid, the quicker they will receive it.
We’ve also attached public information flyers here in English, Spanish, Chinese, Haitian Creole, Khmer, Portuguese, Russian, Vietnamese. We would appreciate if you can share this information widely. We are also active on social media and feel free to connect and share with our two accounts: @MA_DHCD and @MassEOHED

Turning Cameras On During Class
I have seen a huge improvement this week with more students turning on their cameras during class. If your child is struggling with this, please reach out to their guidance counselor, administration, and/or teachers. We want to make sure we are supporting all of our students during Remote Learning.
