Big picture

It's Time to Pick your 2019-2020 classes!!

Everyone else may be preparing for the holiday season but the MHS Counseling Department is preparing for 2019-2020 Registration. This year we will be requiring the students to register for classes online, through Student Vue. Several documents with instructions and helpful information will be posted here, on Google Classroom and provided to the students through their Advisory classes on December 5th.

Students will be completing a paper/pencil copy of their 2019-2020 Course Selection Sheet and then entering the information into their Student Vue account. This course selection feature will be open for student use between December 5 - 14, 2018.

We are asking parents to review their student's choices and sign the second page of the hard copy Course Selection Sheet. We will then be meeting with each student during their English class to verify that they entered their classes correctly and reviewed their choices with a parent/guardian.

There are three documents below for each graduation cohort; 2022, 2021 & 2020. These three documents will assist students in choosing and entering their classes into Student Vue.

We will be meeting with 10th and 11th Grade students between December 10th - 14th. We will then be meeting with 9th Grade students January 16th - 18th. The specific schedule is still being developed so we will be sending Google Classroom notices out to grade levels a few days in advance of our visits.

What is Power Hour?

Students have a one-hour lunch every day except for Wednesdays and early release days.

What can students do during Power Hour?

-Attend club and sports meeting

-Conduct school business (Bookstore, Athletics, Counseling office, etc.)

-Meet with counselors for group sessions and academic questions

-Meet with the College and Career Specialist

-Attend college visitation meetings

-Attend AP study groups and performance practices

-Meet with teachers for Office Hours

What are Office Hours?

Office Hours are mandatory lunch tutoring for 30 minutes. If you are receiving a 69% or lower in your class(es), you will be required to attend Office Hours.

What does this mean?

-During Power Hour you will have 30 minutes of Office Hours and 30 minutes for lunch.

-Office Hours lasts all week or for as long as your grade is at or below 69%.

-Teachers may also assign day-to-day office hours if a student is missing an assignment.

-Office Hours is for everyone. Students do not need to be at or below 69% in a class in order to attend Office Hours. Any student may attend for extra help or to work on class work.

How do I know if I have Office Hours?

-Every Monday morning students with 69% or lower in one or more classes log onto Power Hour. The link is available on the Millennium High School home page. If a student misses two or more Office Hours during the week he/she may have a conference with a counselor or administrator. The second time they miss two or more Office Hours in a week the student can be assigned to Overdrive.
