Curriculum Writing:
Curriculum Writing:
We need your help! If you are interested in supporting curriculum writing this summer, please apply in Applitrack. The deadline has been extended to February 11th. The dates are not finalized for summer curriculum writing, but they are typically the first 2 to 3 weeks in June.District Snapshot Simulations:
Please use best practices when administering simulations. It is encouraged that teachers provide no more than 2 hours for a simulation assessment. Teachers should still provide accommodations per students’ IEP/504 plans, including STAAR allowable accommodations and supplemental aids.
ELAR Testing Genre
Research says that the best indicator of how a student will do on a state standardized test is their reading level.
They need to read, read, read… To increase the number of minutes students read each day get them in books they are fascinated with. Then conference with students to make sure they are making progress.
4th Grade Writing Testing Genre
We strongly encourage teachers to use Unit 2, Boxes and Bullets: Personal and Persuasive Essays for the first few weeks of the writing testing genre. Please let me know how I can support you in accessing the STAAR Aligned resources for this unit on the Heinemann website. An extremely useful document for you will be the Plan for Teaching Boxes & Bullets With Alternate Content.
