Peek at the Bancroft Week
Volume 2 Edition 20 & 21
February 1-14, 2022
Message from the principal...
Thank you for your support with the COVID protocols that are currently in place. With your support, we are keeping students and staff as healthy as possible during these unprecedented times. Please remember to wash hands often, wear masks correctly when necessary and social distance when possible. We still have at-home tests available if you need one.
Testing sites are offered throughout the district Monday-Saturday. The turn around time for your results tends to be 48 hours.
It will take our entire Bobcat community working together to keep our school and community healthy.
With much love and respect,
Cindy Dunn, Principal
MDUSD Education Foundation Annual Donation Campaign
As we enter the second and final month of our annual giving campaign we need your help! MDUSD Education Foundation is well behind our goal of $18,000. The foundation uses these funds to support supplemental STEAM programs throughout the district. In the past four years, those programs have included:
● Science at all grade levels: Mystery Science, Mosa Mack and Gizmos
● Art in Action and Chalk Art at our elementary sites
● Project Lead the Way
● Garden Education Program (Growing Healthy Kids)
We have supported MDUSD students during distance learning with the Coronavirus Remote
Learning Fund along with the funding of programs that are used in both distance and in-person learning environments. We also have plans to expand our offerings this year with new
opportunities in:
● Science/Outdoor Education - Exploring New Horizons field trips
● Art - Mural projects
● Engineering - Femineer Program
We understand how stressful it is living with uncertainty during this pandemic, but one thing is certain, our students need and deserve our continued support. Please help us reach our
fundraising goal.
Intradistrict Transfers Grades K-5 2022-2023
The Intradistrict Transfer Application for Grades K-5 in 2022-2023 will be up on our website, mdusd.org/transfers from February 10-March 10.
TK Registration
Student Services and School Support are piloting Centralized Enrollment for the 2022-2023 Tk class. Enrollment will still begin online and we are currently taking appointments to complete registration in person. The link is available online at mdusd.org/studentservices. If you missed the OM meeting explaining the process it will be linked below as well as a link to the sign up sheet for your website.
Return to School Survey IMPORTANT
This week, when families log onto Homelink, they will be greeted with a survey. There are four questions on the survey as follows:
Address verification: As families move it is important that we have updated addresses for our students. Some further follow up may be required if students indicate they have moved out of our area.
Contact Verification: Cell phones often change and we are asking for current information for our students as we attempt to increase our communication.
Plans for Next School Year: We are asking families if they plan to return or not. It is non-binding but it will help us plan for next year if we know students will be returning or not.
Interest in Virtual Learning: We are seeking to learn if families would be interested in a virtual learning program next year. If there is sufficient interest, we may move ahead in developing this model for families requesting it.
Families can submit new information as often as their circumstances change and we will closely monitor their results as we plan for the 2022-2023 school year.
To complete the survey, parents will log into Homelink and using the directions here, complete the process. There are four parts, address confirmation, contact update, return plans for next year and an indication of interest in a potential virtual learning platform for next year.
Please complete the survey at their earliest convenience.
Attendance and Punctuality
Tardy:
We have seen a rise in students late to school. Please remember that school STARTS at 8:00. Your child should already be on campus, ready to head to their classroom by that time. While I understand that traffic can be a problem, please plan ahead and leave your home a little earlier so that your child is here on time and ready to learn.Independent Study Contracts:
The number of contracts being requested is also on the rise. It is imperative that children at are school learning. MDUSD has worked very hard to provide an in-person, rigorous education for you child. They need to be here to receive that. The calendar for the 2021-2022 school year is available on the district website. The amount of days allowed for Independent Study Contracts has recently changed, with less days available to students. Students will now be allowed only 14 days per school year. Please plan your vacations accordingly so that your children are at school on school days and enjoy vacations during their vacation times.
We appreciate your support as we work together to have give students the education they so richly deserve.
Noon Supervisor
We are trying to hire noon supervisors. If you or anyone you know are interested in working at Bancroft just 8 hours a week, please click on the link here or go to the district website. All our lunch supervisors were parents of former students that just wanted to work where their child attended school. It's a win-win for all.
Attendance A few things to know regarding attendance:
| School Site Council 1/27/2022 Meeting @ 7pm on Zoom | Parent / Teacher Communication We are very fortunate to have the finest teachers in the district right here at Bancroft. Our teachers are using a variety of tools, large group, small group, and individual time with students to make sure every child gets the education they need and deserve. When ever you have a questions, concern, or commendation, please reach out to your teacher directly, as they have the most correct and up to date answer possible. |
Attendance
- Students are required to attend classes, and teachers are taking attendance daily.
- You will need to excuse your child's absence like you do during in-person instruction.
- Students who cannot attend class should contact their teacher about how to attain the instruction and/or make-up the work they missed.
Parent / Teacher Communication
Bancroft Garden Mrs. Burns has been hard at work in the garden. Our students are getting to enjoy the fruits of her labor by being allowed to work in the outdoor space. | Mrs. Dunn | How to be a volunteer at Bancroft Learn how to be a volunteer at Bancroft. https://mdusd-ca.schoolloop.com/pf4/cms2/view_page?d=x&group_id=1394262952238&vdid=i4ea1lrm2y3nd |
