Bohally Newsletter Term 4 - Week 5
November 18th
Principal's Comment
This is likely to be our final newsletter for the year. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for supporting the school through another uncertain year with lockdowns, vaccine mandates, continuous sign-ins, and lots of mask-wearing, but we have got through this and no doubt will be ready to face 2022 with greater resilience. We are learning that we can't predict what is going to happen and have to work with a degree of flexibility as we face the future.
To our leaving families, thank you for letting us educate your children. We hope that you will stay in touch and your children remember Bohally fondly. We have a great group of Year 8's getting ready to start their next journey and we wish them well at College. At the moment we are working with our contributing schools to get ready to welcome another group of Y7's in 2022.
On Tuesday 30th November we start our Adventure week, with students heading off on camp or taking part in local activities. A very special thanks to the parents who are helping out on camp, without you we couldn't go. It is important that you are all aware of what your child needs to take on camp and where they need to meet on the first day. If you haven't received this information please contact the camp teacher. We will all return back to Blenheim on Friday 3rd December.
We finish the year with a Year 8 disco (details to come out) and our school prizegiving on Tuesday 14th December. We are still confirming a venue for this and are having to make changes due to L2 restrictions, unfortunately, parents will not be able to join us for this occasion. Year 8 students finish school at 3 pm on 14th December and our Year 7's at 1 pm on 15th December.
Finally, it has been a difficult time for many over the past few days but I am impressed with how well everyone is showing support to individuals and the school as a whole.
Thank you all for your continued support of our school,
Ngā mihi,
Nicky
Bohally Truffle Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far with gathering orders of truffles for our annual fundraiser. It will be another big week starting next Monday 22 November. If you sent back a form offering to come in and help, you would have been contacted this week via the email or cell you provided, to confirm the times to come in. Many hands make light work - so we're looking forward to having you be a part of our team. Orders will be sent home on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th. Please keep your orders refrigerated before delivering to the person (please don't leave them in mailboxes and on doorsteps).
Adventure Week
Teachers have distributed gear lists and any instructions for time and places to be dropped off on Tuesday 31st November. Please make sure you have read these and you and your child know exactly where they are meant to be. If there has been any change of circumstance and your child will no longer be attending their chosen Adventure Week please email the office with this information. Any outstanding fees should have been paid to the office by now.
We know this is a highlight of the year for many students, and we are so lucky to be able to offer such a variety of camps to the students. If you have any questions please contact the teacher in charge of your child's camp.

Impact Mental Health Blog
At ImpACT-Mental Health we see many parents, teenagers and educators, who enjoy our Resilience based education programmes, as well as one to one coaching packages.
Covid, Lockdowns and our rapidly changing world appear to be causing higher states of anxiety and a decline in overall mental health, for our youth and adults alike.
We thought we would take this opportunity to share our latest blog - 'Building Resilience in Children during Lockdown and Life', which has appeared in the media and is being shared by schools.
Parents are eager for more tools, strategies and techniques to help them in the area of Mental Health.
As authors of HATE MYSELF HATE MY LIFE - A Teenage Guide to finding self-confidence and inner-love, we are passionate about helping teens, parents and educators in all areas of mental health.

Communication
At Bohally we strive to keep our community up to date with what is happening at school. We have three main ways we communicate - our school app, website, and Facebook page. We recommend downloading our school app. The app will allow you to set up alerts for your child's class and activities. This causes a push notification on your phone if any notices are uploaded. If you have any questions about how to access any of these three systems please talk to your child's teacher. Below are the links for you to follow.
