March Book Madness
The "Last Great Race"
We read The Bravest Dog Ever: The True Story of Balto to learn about the history of the Iditarod. We logged onto the Iditarod Race's official website to look at pictures and follow the progress of the mushers. Students then designed and built their own dog sleds using only popsicle sticks, construction paper, hole punchers, and pipe cleaners. Check out the pictures below to see some of their creations!

Math and Reading Bash a Huge Success
The Math and Reading Night for Wanamaker families was held on March 6. What a fantastic evening it was! The whole school was alive with activities--math games in the gym, Kyler from TSCPL sharing his musical talents, story time and Dr. Seuss Bingo in the library, and the Topeka Zoo presentations in the cafeteria. There was something for everybody!
When asked if she was pleased with how the the evening went, Susan Chilson, Math and Reading Interventionist at WE, responded, "Oh my gosh. We were ecstatic. The kids just kept coming and coming. We had over 200 registered students plus their families. We gave away over 300 books! A huge thank you to the staff for helping with the evening and creating math games that families could take home with them. We look forward to next year being even bigger and better!"
Thank you to our Wanamaker families for supporting this awesome celebration of math and reading!
