School Visits
Part of the District's BEST plan is for schools to visit each other and to learn about the great things that are happening so that they possibly be replicated across the school system. We are proud to host two schools next week who are interested in what we do at Gator Run. The first visit will be Monday from 8:30 - 9:30 from Challenger Elementary and the second will be on Friday from Bayview Elementary.
Teachers whose classrooms we will visit on Monday have already been notified, although I know that each of you would be ready and willing to have visitors in your classrooms. Bayview is interested in visiting our Gifted/High Achieving classes. I will notify teachers once we have a scheduled time.
Dual Language Program
Our Kindergarten Dual Language Program received a visit this week from Blanca Guerra, the District's World Language/Dual Language Curriculum Supervisor. Dual Language classes are Blanca's passion. Terry Looky and Laura Pantin have redefined what an exemplary Dual Language program should look like. They have put in countless hours creating curriculum, devising and revising schedules, and meeting with two classes of parents for conferences. Mrs. Guerra was blown away by her visit to these two classes, calling them "the model for the District". What an amazing, well-deserved compliment! If you haven't had a chance to visit these two classes yet, please do so. Way to go Terry and Laura!

Quote of the Week:
I really love the concept behind this one. Too often we tell young people that art is pointless as a career option. But I often wonder where would we be as a people without art and music? What a shame that creativity isn't as celebrated as academic intelligence in schools.
