Excited to Be Back!

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year. There is always a buzz in the air here at school; eager faces, new supplies, happy teachers, new routines, and so much more. We look forward to sharing this year with all of you.

Our SP students are getting settled into their new routines and are looking forward to a great year.

Our staff is looking forward to telling you more about our programs and classrooms at Curriculum Night. Please see below for more information.

As we move through the school year, I will be sending out a newsletter during the first week of every month. It includes important dates, reminders, and information about what is happening at Seth Paine.

As always, I am available for questions, concerns, or encouragements about our school. You can reach me at marie.rothermel@lz95.org or 847-438-2163.

Principal, Seth Paine

DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES

Please make the school/teacher aware of any change in pick up routines.

If you drive to school and drop off your student(s):

  • Morning Arrival: 8:25-8:35am
  • Please drive through the parking lot and enter the new circular drive at the back of the school.
  • Pull as far forward as possible to allow multiple cars in the circular drive. You can pull all the way to the small fenced area at the end of the circle.
  • A staff member will come to your car to let your student out. *Do not have your student exit the vehicle until a staff member comes to you. Parents - do not exit your vehicle as this slows down the process.
  • The student will enter the building at the new front entrance and make their way directly to their classroom. Students and staff must wear masks upon entering the building.
  • Once your child exits the vehicle, you are free to go. Please do so quickly as we will keep the line moving. **We will have many more vehicles, and will do our best to get through cars quickly!**

If you are planning to drive to school and pick up your student(s):

  • Afternoon Dismissal: 2:50-3:00pm
  • Please send in a note letting us know your child will be a pickup.
  • Have your child's last name visible in the front window of the vehicle.
  • Please drive through the parking lot and enter the new circular drive at the back of the school.
  • Pull as far forward as possible to allow multiple cars in the circular drive. You can pull all the way to the small fenced area at the end of the circle.
  • We will be entering names into a Google Form visible in classrooms. Your student(s) will leave the class when they see their name (teachers will assist younger students).
  • When your child arrives, please exit the drive quickly in order to allow the line to keep moving. Please do not come up to the exit to meet your child. We will help them to your car.
  • When cars in front of you leave, please continue to pull forward to fill gaps.
  • Please do NOT pull around cars at the entrance. Please stay in line and move forward behind the person in front of you.

If you drive to school and exit your vehicle with your child or if your child walks to school:

All walkers enter the building on the Miller Road side (Door 7). If you park your car and walk with your student, please enter at Door 7, NOT the main entrance.

Walkers will exit at dismissal from Door 7. If you would like to park to pick up or walk to meet your student(s), please let us know they will be a "walker" and meet them at Door 7. The main entrance is for students who are being picked up by car.

Curriculum Night 2021

Currently, county and local health data indicates that our local area is experiencing high levels of COVID transmission. As a result, we are modifying our elementary Curriculum Night to a virtual format in order to avoid large numbers of people in individual classrooms. We will host a single virtual Curriculum Night on Monday, August 23rd, with the following schedule:

  • 5:45pm-6:45pm: Kindergarten-2nd Grades & Replacement Math

    • Session 1 - 5:45pm-6:15pm

    • Session 2 - 6:15pm-6:45pm

  • 7:00pm-8:00pm: 3rd-5th Grades

    • Session 1 - 7:00pm-7:30pm

    • Session 2 - 7:30pm-8:00pm

As you can see, classroom teachers are offering two sessions. Parents may choose to attend either session, as the same information will be provided in both sessions. Families with students in multiple grade levels may attend multiple sessions. Your child(ren)’s classroom teacher will provide a Zoom link by Friday, August 20th.

Lunch Reminder

As lunches are provided at no charge to all students this year, we are again not offering ala carte choices. Students are not able to make extra purchases with their school lunches. This includes a single milk. If you send your child to school with a lunch, please plan to send your child with a drink as well. The purchase of milk (separate from a school lunch) is not available at this time. Small cups of water are available from our bottle filling station in the cafeteria.

School lunches do include milk.
