Parent-Teacher Conferences

If you need help scheduling your Parent-Teacher Conference please call the school office. Directions for signing up were sent in an email earlier this week. Conferences start on October 12th.

Halloween Parties - No costumes

Halloween Parties will have to look different this year. Classroom teachers will hold parties on October 30th without the help of parents. We will not have a costume parade or wear costumes at school that day. Costumes are difficult for young students to put on by themselves and would be difficult to wear with our masks.

Attendance and Tardy Codes

Parents are now able to see attendance and tardy codes on the ParentVue App. To help parents understand what the different codes mean I have attached a sheet to the email this week. One change this year is that students are marked tardy if they arrive in the first 30 minutes of school or if they leave during the last 30 minutes of school. Arriving later than 9:00 a.m. or leaving school before 3:15 p.m. is marked as a half-day absence.

Counseling Letter

This month our classroom counseling lessons this month will focus on skills of resilience, coping, and how to get help for oneself and/or a friend if needed. A more detailed letter from our counselor is attached to this email.

FROM THE COUNSELOR

Dear Parents:

This month our classroom counseling lessons in grades K-5 will focus on skills of resiliency, coping skills, and how to get help for oneself and/or a friend. These lessons are intended to educate students on feelings of stress, worry, sadness, how to cope with such feelings, and how to ask for help if needed. Please talk with your child about these feelings, and reinforce appropriate coping strategies such as talking with a trusted adult, exercising, or doing any activity that they enjoy. Please contact Jennifer Mangan at jamangan@mpsomaha.org with any questions!
