Picture Retakes - TOMORROW
Sweet Home Church Outreach - THIS SABBATH DEC. 3rd
Partnering for Life (PFE) Scholarship opportunity
Since 2006, Southern Adventist University has had the unique opportunity to manage a one of a kind grant that creates a local, service-oriented scholarship program for elementary students that pairs participating students with elderly adults in their community.
Students (accompanied by a parent or guardian) who participate in this grant-funded program perform light housecleaning and or yard work, visit, read, play games, assist with planned facility events, along with many other responsibilities. These activities benefit the older adults with daily living and quality of life while also providing students an excellent opportunity to appreciate the value of service, foster positive mutual relationships with the elderly, and help with financing their Christian education.
Hope to see many of you there to find out more about this exciting opportunity for your child. Dinner will be provided.

Preschool - Mrs. Kontra
-This coming Sabbath we will be providing the worship service at Sweet Home Church. Please let me know if you will not be able to make it, so I can adjust the program accordingly.
-Next week, Thursday, Dec. 8th, is our field trip to Story Book Land at the Linn County Fairgrounds. Younger siblings are welcome and encouraged to attend. They would enjoy it. Entrance fee is one or more non-perishable food items. Plan on it lasting from 9:30 - 12:00. If you will be transporting your child, please let me know, so we can make arrangements to accommodate all transportation needs.
-Since every child is so different in educational, social, emotional and spiritual development, I will be beginning individualized goals, that will be updated every two weeks. It may be a spiritual goal - Learning new ways to pray in the morning, or retelling the bible story. It may be educational, mastering a specific letter, or holding a pencil or scissors correctly. It may be a social goal, learning new approaches to being a friend to someone in class, or an emotional goal: being one of the first to listen when it is time to line up or put something away.
As you are interacting with your child, if you notice things you would like to be included as a goal, please write it down, and share it with me. Goal setting is a great way to ensure that each child is moving forward at his/her pace, and getting individualized attention according to their needs.
K-1 - Mrs. Bates
-Students are learning that Jesus is God's best gift (and ours to receive)!
-First graders are discovering number families and conquering those addition and subtraction facts!
-Kindergarten kids are getting excited about knowing the beginning sound of words, whether it's pictures or written!
-All of us are preparing to be a part of the worship service to bless the Sweet Home community this coming weekend.
-This class is becoming comfortable with helping each other succeed, and cheering each other on when a job is done well! Way to go, class!!
Tips to remember:
-Reading with a child is the most important thing that will help them become a better reader and writer. Keep track of their reading in the Reading Record folder that you have at home.
-If you still have a student info sheet or a parent volunteer form from conferences, please send them back asap.
-This week's memory verse is from Isaiah 9:6, MSG. "A child has been born--for us! The gift of a son--for us!"
5-7 - Mr. La Sage
In language classes, the students are studying ancient Indian cultures, the Industrial Age in the U.S. and Western Europe, and just starting to read into Thin Air, from OSU grad Jon Krakauer, and A Christmas Carol, from Charles Dickens.
The Students are a joy to work with and we look forward to a wonderful holiday season together.
