Principal's Message
Hello Panther Family,
Happy Friday! I hope everyone had an awesome first week back at school. At Asa G. Hilliard, it was OUTSTANDING. Our scholar cam back ready to learn and grow together. I am so looking forward to the week ahead.
Below is some important information to help you prepare for the week ahead.
Drop Off- Beginning Monday, all parents and family members will need to drop scholars off at either carpool or off the bus. In addition, school begins promptly at 7:40 am. If your child arrives after that time, you will need to park, walk in, and sign them in. It is crucially important that students are at school on time, as our instruction begins at 7:40 am.
Device Deployment- This year, our students in grades 3-5 will have their own devices again, however this has been delayed until September. As soon as devices are issued, we will be sure to let families know. In the meantime, parents should go into their parent portal, click the three bars in the green banner, click documents, and complete the device user agreement. It will be required for your scholar to receive a device.
Transportation Updates/Reminders- The first week is now done! With that we would like to thank everyone for their patience. For all of our carpool families, please make sure you scholar has a number. This number should only be given to family members who are authorized to pick up your child. For our bus riding families, please download the Here Comes the Bus app. It will provide up to date information on arrival times of our buses. Finally, transportation changes should be in writing submitted directly to the front office as well as the teacher.
Parent University- This coming week, we will host our first Parent University. The focus of this event is to familiarize our parents and families as to our Positive Behavior Intervention System. You will learn how we reward students and highlight all the wonderful things they are doing. We will also answer any questions about the Code of Conduct that evening. Plan on joining us on Thursday, August 18th at 6PM in the cafeteria.
Diagnostic Testing- This week, your scholars began their beginning of the year testing. This testing allows us to appropriately plan instruction and support for every student. All scholars will engage in a variety of assessments throughout the month to help us ensure we provide them tailored support. Some of these assessments will also determine TAG testing.
Curriculum Night- Coming up on September 1st at 6PM, AGHES will be hosting our annual Curriculum Night for parents and families. During this event, you will be able to attend your child's grade level to learn about how their day flows, curriculum used, and what to expect out of this year.
Of course and as always, please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns at
