Family Newsletter

12/12/21

Hello everyone-

Whew what a wild weather week. I think we had everything this week! Snow flurries, 70 degrees, rain and hail and tornado warning- yikes! Hopefully, this week's weather will be better, though I must say I don't mind the unseasonably warm weather:)

3rd-5th grade students should have had their mySEBRS social/emotional assessment report go home in their backpack yesterday. Please reach out to your teacher if you did not get it. Please reach out to me if you have any questions about the assessment or how your student rated themself.

With the St. Louis County announcement regarding masking this week has led to many questions and concerns. I appreciate you reaching out and I encourage you to watch the Board of Education meeting tomorrow night to learn more. We want to remain clear and transparent about the mitigation strategies we have in effect as well as any potential changes to these processes. We will be reviewing potential updates to our COVID-related mitigation strategies at the next regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13. As a reminder, you may view meetings of the Board of Education online at kirkwoodschools.org/virtualboe

I recognize that masking has the potential to divide our school community. I'd like to encourage everyone to respect the opinion of others' even if they differ from yours. At school we teach our children to listen respectfully and they can agree to disagree and also respectfully share their opinion. We are remaining focused on the children and ensuring a safe and happy learning environment. I care very deeply for our students, staff, and families and will continue to enforce the KSD plans regarding our Covid safety strategies. The strategies are put in place to reduce the transmission of Covid 19 and protect our students, staff, and families.

Please reach out at any time to share any questions, concerns, or ideas. I am here to help and support you and your family. Thanks for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe.

Take Care-

Angeline
