Fifth Grade Newsletter

March 26, 2020

Thank you!

We would like to personally thank each and every one of you for supporting us with everything else your have going on in your own lives. We really miss all the students and can't wait to see them in person, hopefully soon.

We will continue to take your feedback and work hard to provide quality lessons for all our kids.

Also, know that we are only an email away and if your child is struggling with something we can help.

Lesson Plans and Assignments

As a reminder, all assignments are due on Sundays at midnight.

We had one main change this week as our eLearning evolves and that is that we will share lesson plans with you on Mondays at 8:30 am rather than noon.

Lesson plans will be available in multiple locations. We will send them via email (a S'more), post them on our Google Classroom so students can see them, and post them on the Smith website.

We have had several questions about logins. Please note that the most common sites and login information is listed below.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

eLearning Reminder

This is a friendly reminder to please encourage your child to showcase his or her own learning through our various eLearning platforms. We want to see students' understanding of the contents we are sharing. Given that providing relevant feedback to our students is one of the most effective ways to support students in making growth, it's important for us to see their authentic work and hear their own thoughts when they share their understanding of concepts. Please do not feel pressured to correct misspellings, edit/revise responses, etc. The information we receive from your child will support us in determining our next steps in providing helpful feedback and instruction.

Accessing various resources, tools, and websites

We want to make sure everyone knows how to log into the various platforms and websites we will be using. Although your children should be familiar with this, we wanted to make sure you have the information as well.

Some of the most common sites we anticipate using and their logins are listed below, as well as a link to a document with additional resources you can access at home.

How Teachers Will be Facilitating This Process

Teachers will be available from 9 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 3 pm via email. We will also be providing timely feedback to students in order to support understanding of content. Since this is new for all of us, we will be monitoring and adjusting the lessons if needed. Please let us know if you run into any difficulties with this process so that we can fix it.
